I have never given cars that I have owned a name but I have always given my bikes names..... Tiffany the Tifosi.......Fiona the Felt..... to name just two......
I really don't know why ...it just seems natural.
The first letter of the name has to match the name of the make of the bike and I have always chosen female names......must be some deep psychological reason behind it... :-)
When I first showed Anne the Eriba caravans she said that the shape vaguely reminded her of a corned beef tin.....
So our sequence of thought for the name for our Eriba went:- Corned beef..... South America....Argentina.....Eva Peron.... so Eva the Eriba !!.
Silly I know.... but I think it is a bit of a tradition to give names to all sorts of forms of transport etc... Planes Boats.... Ships.....Rockets....Traction Engines....Steam Trains... etc

It was My other half's idea to christen Morrison Morrison. Why? Because he's a van, of course! (And, yes, for some reason he's very much a "he".)

We also tend to call ours 'The Eriba'. We did think of calling it 'Towed Hall' because of our love of 'Wind in the Willows' and the association with "life on the open road" but some how it just didn't stick so Eriba it is.

Our Eriba is called Bilbo because he looks like a hobbit house, well he does to me
Bilbo woke up to find that a Tesco had been built next to his house. It was an unexpected item in the Baggins area.
(Sorry that was on a well know social media site this morning!!)

We had a motorhome prior to buying our Triton 420 and called it Motorhome Mae as the registration was MAE. We now call our van Eriba Mae. When starting out on our journey with Mae in tow the call goes out that "Eriba Mae is on her way". How sad is that?

When my new one arrives...I'm going to call it "Chatsworth"...for 2 reasons...
My friend who is a manager in Laura Ashley is going to fit out the interior to give it a classic British look...
and secondly...as I'll be to travelling alone on my adventures, I'm hoping that when people are passing, it'll be worth a chat :-) ha!
