Things I've noticed during this holiday

People of a certain age who should know better especially the ladies walking to use the "facilities" in various states of undress not pretty!
People carrying 3 or more bags of refuse maybe it's me but 1 is enough in any caravan
People "still" using cars to take there overflowing Thetford to be emptied
Talcum powder on the shower floor, in the Gents!
Speeding on camp sites 5mph is 1st gear on tickover and even then I daresay it'll be more than 5mph. A human walks at roughly 4mph
Why do I always find someone's lost sock in the on site washing machine! Good for wiping your dipstick I have the last one under my bonnet.
Dogs, despite what people say! Allowed go foul the surrounding pitch area's
Wardens, some need to brush up on there "people skills"
Why do I always find carrot or peas left in the washing up area!
Why do people walk across others hardstanding pitches! And then get defensive and angry when confronted.
Ironing on holiday! Come on Guys (yes it was a bloke with a pink shirt) but I've seen ladies as well
I reckon I can think of more but I'll get off my soap box now and hopefully let someone else have a go

We actually escaped the 'dawn frighteners' this last holiday, until we got to Old Oaks, after 16 days away on four sites. There was a whole coven off them at TOO I'm certain. Frightened the dogs! That's a bit unfair, in that one site (Notgrove) has no shower facilities, so you never see the curler and candlewick dressing gowns trudging about the place.
We had two 1950's restored and converted German military trucks one night at Salisbury. When they started up it was like Sink the Bismark all over again, I'm surprised the Fire Brigade didn't turn up, but their noise was superb.
On the way home on the M6 we visited the new Gloucester MSA, very swish. A service area for Wombles/Hobbits.
Shortly after we saw a poliice stop on the southbound M6. I suddenly realised that the southbound lanes had become empty, then saw a group of stationary cars ahead, with three police cars surrounding the fourth car in Lane 3 and lots of dayglo yellow jackets running around. As we passed one of the yellow jackets had jumped into the driver's seat of the stopped car and was trying to start it, whilst the other yellow jackets jumped into the police cars. I assume the driver of the stopped car had been bundled into a police car. Then a couple of hundred yards further on there was a police X5 holding back the hordes of traffic in a rolling roadblock. Very dramatic and over in seconds.

Crikey, Graham, if that's not a case of the pot calling the kettle black, I don't know what is. I quote from another of your posts (made while on holiday):
"I have waxed the car everyday here and she does look good even if I say so myself. The Eriba has been washed with a watering can with the help of overnight dew twice, then dried and waxed. Earlier today I wiped the exposed bits of floor clean and wiped out the shower tray (disposable floor wipes from the £ shop).
I think the only thing I need to do currently is another coat of wax to the upper (pop top) and lower roofs."
Ironing while away on holiday, particularly if for an extensive period = normal. Waxing car and caravan on a daily basis on a UK camp site = well, weird.

Now that's the one that really gets our backs up.We don't know if it's because they want a sneaky peek in an Eriba but too many people see nothing wrong with cutting through our pitch and nosing in through the window as they pass.
However, as if a comeuppance, one Brit on a site in Saint Foy this year, on her umpteenth journey across our pitch instead of using the footpath, slipped on a damp grassy bank and fell on her aspidistra and muddied her pink track suit a treat. As she got up and looked around we made sure that she knew we had were watching.
More recently in mid Wales, we felt as though we were surrounded for a few days as a couple moved into a small static tourer to our left while their friends in a large camper van pulled in on our right. They would regularly visit one another along the back of our van before returning by way of the front.

I was thinking on our last trip and people walking across the pitch.
Malvern - back to the site fence, people walking past but nobody would want to walk over the pitch as there's nowhere to go.
Notgrove - grass pitch on edge of site ovrlooking a distant view of fields. Not in anyones line of walking anywhere.
Salisbury - grass pitch by the Warden's compound and nobody had any reason to walk nearby
Southlands, IoW - grass pitch surrounded on three sides by an evergreen hedge. Anyone who walked onto the pitch would need a chainsaw to get off.
Old Oaks - end pitch, tucked away in a corner. Nobody walks past and nowhere to go if they did walk onto the pitch.
So, the answer is to get a pitch that's tucked away or backs onto the site boundary. They've no reason to encroach then.

Not always easy in the UK however. In France, as you probably know, emplacements are normally hedged in. The one at Saint Foy however, although not hedged, there was no reason at all to cut through as the driveway and footpath ran around the edge of our pitch to the toilet block and, if anything, cutting through was a longer journey.

People are naturally curious about their neighbors............. behind me where I am now was a VW camper with a young couple in attendance .................I was interested to see their van and they were interested to see the eriba ...............so we chatted about each others setup.............they left for home this morning .....but not before stopping by to say goodbye
The sort of thing that adds interest to a trip away

I found it amazing to see one man at the tap each morning with two aqua rolls, one guy said he looked like a road roller
I use a 5L watering can to top up my water ................ 20 Kg is too much in one trip for me .........

For years I dragged the Aquaroll back and forth to fill up and eventually I remembered to buy a watering can. Much less fiddling with water pump and handles, just top it up whenever walking in the direction of the tap. Although it means more visits to the tap, it somehow seems less aggravation and certainly less weight to manhandle.
