Been back from France 4 weeks now and itching to get away again but our next break will be Nov/Dec with a few nights at Cirencester. We stayed there as an overnighter on our way back from Cornwall and were impressed by the site and it's proximity to the town. After that we will probably do our usual few nights at Chatsworth in Jan - all depending on the weather of course If the roads are clear we will be there.

ALL YEAR CAMPING

I have just been up to Warwick for the weekend - much colder than here in Bournemouth! I used an electric oil filled radiator all night to keep the chill off - cozy and snug!! We have not used our gas heater yet as it needs checking/servicing. However I don't like the thought of a gas heater especially leaving it on all night! Plus there would be no gas left probably!! Actually I'm thinking of getting it removed as I can't see me ever using it serviced or not!!
We hope to have another weekend away this side of Christmas if we get a spare weekend - why not, as long as you have all the appropriate bedding and extra fleeces blankets etc no reason not to!

Well done Lou. We have never used our gas heater except for checking it works. We do have a small fan heater and that warms the van up easily for the odd time we have neded it. We have all the duvets and blankets etc, but it's mainly the transition from in to out that worries Carole and without the awning that's even worse/

I agree totally jt's the transition especially without an awning, ok if the days are cold and chilly BUT if they happen to be dank and wet, then that's a different ball game!😲😠🚃

We need a quiet dry day now, to clean the Eriba and prepare it for winter then turn it round so Tow hitch is facing inwards, then cover it and walk past it until next March. Just trying to get my son or nephew organised ( not easy ) to spare me the time, as it would be too much for Carole and I to do, with my current situation hobbling around.

Don't even think about it. Purely a supervisory role until you get yourself sorted. Right, consider yourself told !!!!

+ 1 Seriously hope the human garage (hospital) gets you sorted and right soon, keep a Positive Mental Attitude and NEVER feel sorry for yourself! Thats just not on😠

Think of your role as has been stated a "supervisory one" and make sure he does a really good job! If not tell him the Eriba Inspectors will not be happy😂😊

Best wishes Derek and Carole👫

We like our winter holidays too. Lots of lovely walks and cosy evenings in the van..

Now looking forward to one week breaks at Blackshaw Moor near Leek in mid November, Castleton the week before Christmas and Cherry Hinton in early February.

We are having the Ultraheat element fitted to the gas heater before the next trip, so it could be the end of the road for the old faithful oil-filled radiator.

We stayed at Cherry Hinton two years ago and didn't like it . It was probably because we were given a pitch in the deepest darkest bit of the quarry. Because it was summer, the tall trees were in full leaf as well which made matters worse.
That pitch was all that we were offered because we had a door on the wrong side although we had booked the site many months previously and they knew we had an Eriba.
Toilet block was nice though and easy walk to the bus stop for Cambridge.

We had a lovely week there in early spring this year. One of the highlights was a day out at Anglesey abbey when the snowdrops were blooming under the silver birch trees. Astounding.

We've added it to our list of winter venues in the place of Sandringham, which we've done to death.

Well we hope to get our Troll in the next week or so (awaiting a call from AL) and will definitely be staying down in the West Country in it, to try it out. I have started to learn to knit to have something to do in the evenings and John is planning on sorting out the photographs on the laptop. Then we will be going off into Spain for January and February, and by the time we get back we should know whether we like caravanning or not! Our Troll is likely to be used more in winter than in summer!

Jams, I hope AL sort you on time, they are OK we bought ours there. Not sure if you have any west counrty sites in mind but we can recommend sites in Seatown, Charmouth, Axemouth and further on if necessary. If you need any help let us know. You will get loads of offers like that from here if you ask.
