Forgotten knowledge! probably affects us all ☺

I was following a thread over a couple of days, written and photographed, rather excellently by hob when I realised that something he passed on as a tip we had been doing for years, I mean we just naturally did it, with little or no thought to how valuable that knowledge would be to others!

In this instance it was simply to store your toilet chemical fluids under the cassette in the 4 voids designed for this purpose, you should get 2 sample size bottles with your NEW van, if you buy second hand then the previous owner / s may have discarded them. You can buy the smaller sample sizes though.

Anyway this set me to thinking how many of us do something simple and logical that you think is not worthy of being passed on! When in fact that knowledge could be very useful to someone else, whether new to our hobby / pastime or a veteran of many years?

I think we should be looking at the knowledge we forgot we gleaned when we were beginning☺

Here's a tip which I have posted before, replace the round sink top piece of wood with a plastic tray, it has many uses and is more beneficial than a piece if tree!

And here's just one of them ably demonstrated by Agger's assistant

So here's our contribution.
Soon after we bought our Troll we noticed that the laminate on the underside of the cupboards above the cooker was a little rippled, probably due to steam rising from the cooker. So we fashioned a baffle/warming shelf from a piece of aluminium sheet we had hanging around.

By placing on top of the existing aluminium cooker shields it was an effective way of stopping the heat/steam hitting the underside of the overhead cupboards and also doubled as a warm shelf for dishes/plates. Ours happened to be black but we feel that plain aluminium would probably be better.

It can also be used with the shields if cooking in the awning as again it works as a shelf and splash back.

Finally, we used to use it sandwiched under the rear cross bolster in our seating area, as a coffee table (we now have another arrangement).

Did you know that the front dinette table with the knuckle leg (used as an under bed support) also fits perfectly on top on the front seat locker? This allows the table to be used pushed up against the side wall, thus giving more legroom. After demonstrating this to Hob at the Eribafolk meet, he has adapted the idea and uses it regularly.

We did similar thing but instead of a tray we fitted a chopping board which was purchased from Amazon.

Removed the handle it sits perfectly on our sink
