Been watching this... One of the links given seems to imply a maximum width for mirrors outside the caravan width... is that observed in real life? Certainly a smaller Puck behind a Peugeot Partner gives no leeway for extra mirrors, and a Troll would only permit some fairly close mirrors. Maximum as well as minimum projections in these Regs.

>Concave, or flat mirrors ???
Its a personal thing I expect............I prefer flat mirrors, because it give me a reasonably true reflection of size, and distance of other traffic.
I find that concave, whilst giving a wider vision, doesn't help me in mentally assessing how safe it is to overtake, or pull back in.
Not that there is much traffic going slower than I am, just the occasional tractor.

Wow, many thanks, the berlingo mirrors are narrower at the top but at that price it is worth a shot,
NOW which is the best, advice on concave or flat ???? every little helps
I use a concave on the passenger side which gives me better vision of vehicles accessing the motorway from the slip road and I can also see my caravan wheel and I have a flat mirror on the driver side which allows me to judge the distance and speed of traffic before pulling out to over take.
Edit: convex not concave
When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!

Looking into a concave mirror is like looking into one of the soup spoons you keep for best - very large and upside down
A little bit of convex curvature increases your field of view, but the distortion makes it more difficult to judge distances.

I got my stick-on mirror (just the one) but the chap had another pair of conventional mirrors (make unknown), all for next to nothing, so I am now spoiled for choice, and, I hope, legal.
Thanks all for your advice

We were at Quimper today. Lots of jokes here about Quimper Vannes and White Vannes man......
When we were there in 2011 we took a pic of this one :-

Do you live near Quimper then? We stayed at Telgruc-sur-Mer and then the Baie De Terenez.

Hello Roger
Nice Quimper Vannes.
We live in Le Quillio (22460) - a very pleasant wee village of about 600 folk. We get lots of summer tourists and it is a 'must' for vintage car owners as the old part of the village is quite picturesque.this is the church from our garden.. Should add that last year Le Quillio won the prestigious 'label' and is now a Central Brittany heritage site. This week (Nov 2014) we also gained recognition as a 'ville fleurie' and have an official star to prove it!
