My mate shown here in my painting makes a living out of refurbing/rebuilding Triumphs and he has several himself.

Ref the 'C11G'
The close up image is a little blurred but I think this is an Ariel Colt. Not a lot different from the C11G (200cc as against 250cc) as by this time (mid 60's) BSA/Ariel were part of the same group and went in for badge engineering as did AJS/Matchless.

I think you are right. I didn't realise that they were so similar. Thanks for pointing that out.

By jove you are right, I had two Ariel Colts as well! (the two had hardly any mileage on them
and were given to me by a bloke that had just bought a car)

Hi I like the subject and pictures, I started off driving on a BSA Gold flash with a watsonian side, followed by a BSA C11G. With the dreaded alternater electrics,

When I could buy my own bike I had BSA DB32 Gold star
Had it for about 5 years.

Followed by a velociette viper. With engine

Then after a few years I got back on the bikes with a Suzuki GXSR1100H. Or widow maker

image_3.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

After coming off I sold the bike but again I once more surcome to the calling and bought a 1200 Suzuki Bandit

image_4.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

Followed by a Bueles xB12XT

image_5.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

And a harly electragulide with a chair

And finally a Suzuki Hiabusha

I have had more bikes than cars, but have now had to sell all of them. Too old!,

And bought a Porsche 996 (911) but they don't tow caravans could not get a tow bar for it.

Love the Velocette Viper A mate of mine had one, I rode pillion on it about 48 - 50 years ago - loved that exhaust note ! Never really got hooked on bikes, cars were and still are more my 'thing' - but still like vintage machines. Only bike I owned, again about 50 years ago, was a40's ? Aerial Red Hunter single 350, ex army bike. I rode it off road in the woods behind my house (may have secretly crept onto the roads once or twice !) Long live 'classic bikes !

Old age made me forget these bikes I had
Suzuki T500
Great bike but was an oil well special it would not pass a petrol station with needing filling up.
But very quick!!!!!

image.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

Suzuki gs1000g. Shaft drive, the last of the classic shape. This was the best bike I ever had!!!

image_2.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

BMW r1100rs. All the wiring connections caroded and the bike became rideable it broke down every time I went out on it!!!
Plus it would not go round tight corners.

image_3.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

And finally
BMW F650GS. it nearly cuts you in half after a long ride.

Looking back is not the way I usually look, but it makes me think I have had some loverly bikes and fortunate only to have come off badly onece when the widow maker high sided me wihen a new tyre was fitted. Looking forward now to our next trip to France with the Eriba, down to the Pyrenees.

I had the 350 Viper Clubman full fairing, very nice but it scraped when cranked over.
I got a Venom Engine and competition front forks along with the big front brake drum.
It became a Venom, later Eddie Dow provided additional kit and it ended up as a Thruxton.
I also rode several BSA Bantams 125cc, 150cc, 175cc all given the Todd heads, Snell close
ratio gears and various stuffing pieces and polished bits including oval con rods.
My brother and I both rode Venoms to work and often had PC Shepherd accompany us on his Triumph!

I went up Monte Baldo on the ski-lift - the summit was snow-bound while it was over 30C down by the lake! The Italian Lakes - a lovely area to visit.

Did you have any problems with the Miller electrics on the venom. Nice bikes though, drilled out the holes in the fishtail and it sounded great.

I did a conversion to Lucas and then changed it back to the Miller when I sold it.

Great about Italian Lakes, drove the alpine Rally Route one year and drove through them, very busy though by the lake it's self.

I had a Lucas magneto which I changed for a BTH for a bigger fatter spark.
An electrician friend made up the wiring harness and forgot to include the
dynamo, so for a week I rode it to work with just a glowworm in the headlight
until he wired in and flashed up the dynamo. Apart from that, never had a problem
with it. I spot faced the cylinder and added 'O'-rings to stop oil coming down the
cylinder studs.
