I have never had anyone complain about us, and we pitch whichever way gives us the best view! - often lengthwise across the pitch. I figure everyone else thinks our rig is as beautiful as I do, from any angle But we always have respect for others around us. Then again, I wouldn't dare go to a CC site. If we have a particularly good view (that we usually are prepared to pay extra for) it's always a good excuse to invite any neighbours who have a less favourable outlook over for a drink to enjoy it too!
However, we have come across some quite anal people... one asked us to turn the bass down on our music - it was 4pm in the afternoon on a dutch family site in France, with children playing happily and squealing everywhere so neither I or anyone else could actually hear any music, but he said he could hear the bass! (do we look like we listen to heavy bass stuff?!). He may as well have had a clipboard the way he strutted around the site closely examining the surrounding pitches and giving people the death stare if they dared to for e.g. take two sinks in the washing up area, even when it was quiet. In France we saw people complaining about eastern european seasonal agricultural workers on a campsite in September. These workers had spotless pitches with good equipment, were gone without a sound well before 6am and didn't return until like 8pm. They would shower, cook & eat and were all in bed by nine thirty but anyone would have thought the mafia mob were in town, just because of the country stickers on their vehicles. I wonder how people like these deal with the rigours of everyday life, when they get so stressed when they are supposed to be on holiday!!

Last September we were staying on the cc site on Anglesey and on a lovely sunny afternoon Mark decided to play his banjo as the wardens was cutting the grass and it was most definately louder than banjo. Once the warden stopped cutting the grass the banjo playing came to an end, not long after the warden came and apologised as he had to tell us of some complaints about the banjo playing. As there were only a few people around it wasn't rocket science who it was so I was over generous with my dirty looks. Mark just laughed and told the warden not to worry and said. "I'm not that bad honestly". We quite understand that the sound of a loud banjo could announced some people but the mower drowned the noise. We also had one woman ask Mark to move the car so that she couldn't see.it as she thought cars were ugly. She kindly let us know that "the tent" was just acceptable but not the car, the tent being our awning. Wouldn't mind but the only view the car blocked was other caravans, I am amazed that in the last 5yrs I've not committed murder.

Ohhh dear. I can see it from two sides. As some have said there are some totally ignorant self ish people who would do whatever they liked when they liked! And if to many behaved that way life could be difficult and they could spoil others enjoyment and views. However if someone was sensible and did not intrude on others enjoyment I would not have a problem. It could be anarchy if all were left to their own devices it could be a free for all. I would have loved the banjo playing better than drums!!

We're new to caravanning, or at any rate to touring, and this will be our first season with our Eriba. But we have spent many summers over the past 30-odd years in mobile homes on Haven/Siblu sites in France and Spain. One of the things I enjoy most is sitting out on the veranda in the evening with a glass of red and a bowl of crisps or pistachios, and picking out a tune on my ukulele. No-one has ever complained. So I've been looking forward to some of the same this summer here in the UK. Am I going to have to rethink this whole scenario?
