Don't forget to check your Nose Weight

I am totally new to this a lot to learn methinks

My nose weight gauge.
Large piece of wood on the floor to take out uneven ground. Piece of wood right across the scale platform to spread the load.
If you don't have those pieces of wood, the scale body will deform and not read properly.
