Hello folks. We collect a Troll 540 in a week or so and can't wait. Its lovely!

First time caravan, first time travel with a baby plus dog so will we ever get further than 10 miles from home?!?!

Previously we've had campervans so not totally in the dark, but never towed before.

Should be a lot of fun?!?

Well you have started with the biggest in the Eriba range you will be fine. One of my regrets is not being aware of how much fun can be had with a caravan before the kids grew up hey ho enjoy.

Hi grizzlyj and welcome to Eribafolk . You're not alone. Very many on here had never towed before they got their first Eriba. Just find yourself a quiet dual carriageway so that you can gain in confidence without the fear of some hot head coming at you from the front or behind.

Within a few short miles you'll start to enjoy it. Eribas are a pleasure to tow.

Check out the various threads on here concerning towing mirrors. I am a convert. I used to tow without them but for the past couple of years I've found them very worthwhile.

Don't forget to check out the tow ball on your car. If your Eriba has an AL-KO hitch then you'll need an AL-KO type tow ball or a swan neck. Again, loads of info. on here or just ask and someone will help you out.

So, fun times ahead.

Thank you for the welcome :)

The Troll will be towed with a (silver of course ;)) Transit which is listed as 200mm wider than the van so I'm assuming I don't need extra mirrors????

And it has a Westfalia stabilising hitch so does that affect ball choice?!?! Worried now, but towball yet to be fitted :)

Thank you for the possible heads up :) I'll try and have a search.

(Edit- should I have said pushed by? Is that an Eriba thing or a caravan thing?!)

. Our old car was fatter than the Eriba so we didn't bother with mirrors. Need them now though.

No need to worry. I'm not sure about the Westfalia hitch but if you're getting a standard tow ball fitted to your vehicle, why not go for an AL-KO one anyway to be on the safe side. They're only about a tenner extra, I think. Of course, if you're having a swan neck fitted then it won't affect you anyway. See link below:-

Kathy and Martin.

PS I'm assuming you've sorted out whether you need a 13 pin electrics socket on the tow van, or an adapter 13 pin to twin 12n/12s ?

Just incase !!!!
