Suitable French Gas Bottles for a 310.

We are new to the Forum and even newer to owning an Eriba 310. In fact, although we are the proud owners, we are actually 1000 miles away from it and have not yet met the said Caravan!!! (it is in Tebay and we are in the South of France). We are going to pick it up early July and return with it, after a 2 week holiday touring the UK, back here to France. My question is: French Gas Bottles are a different shape/size to the UK Models. Can anyone advise as to which French Bottles actually fit in the Locker. We dont want to use UK Bottles and want to bring a suitable French Make with us when we go to collect our Caravan in July. if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Bienvenu!
Congratulations on the new Eriba.
I cannot help with gas bottle sizes but one possibility is to have a refillable bottle. A system called Gaslow can be fitted to your Eriba with a filler point allowing one or two 7kg (?) cylinders to be refilled at auto gas points. Adapters are easily available for use in the different European countries. So you could travel anywhere safe in the knowledge that you can always fill up.
Another option is called SafeFill.

Whichever system you choose you will never need much gas if you use electric hook ups so one cylinder is all you need.
Good luck

If you do some research I think you will find French and English fittings are different so maybe use any gas that may be in the van while over here then fit a new regulator and cylinder when you get back home.

Yes, French Bottles come with a variety of regulators etc. It is for this reason that i want to find the 'suitable' sized Bottle and bring it along with the correct Regulator and have it Fitted before we take delivery of the caravan.

We bought our 320GT In france and there was already a 13 kgs bottle butane connected, we decided to leave this and remove it in the winter to use in our portable gas fire ( similar to Super Ser) in the house, however am now thinking of replacing with a smaller bottle due to the weight and the small amount of gas used when on hook up as Tony said. One good thing about this forum is there is always a good response. Good luck

This is the setup we use, lightweight Calor propane with a back-up Campingaz 907 bottle and regulator that we use with the Cadac.

Campingaz is available in the UK and in most French supermarkets. We tend to use very little gas as we always go for an EHU and use the electricity we have paid for in the site fee to run the refrigeration, heating and cooking via an induction hob and/or Remoska.

We really only carry gas for emergency use if the fridge element should fail, for example.

As mentioned, 'Campingaz' 907's and screw in regulators are universally available throughout Europe in supermarkets etc.(thought relatively costly !) and fit even the smallest Puck gas box ! Room for two cylinders usually.

I too, only use gas as an emergency 'back-up'

What year is it? have you asked the sellers what pressure it runs at................it should be on a label inside the gas box

If its new and UK spec the regulator will be 30 Mb and you will need to change the power sockets when you get home

You might be interested in this topic as you will be doing similar in reverse
