I saw this a couple of pitches down from us a few weeks back at Wincester C&MC site. It's called an "Ultra Light", so I guess it's a good candidate for this thread.

He said it weighed 5 1/2 tons and he gets about 8 to 10 mpg with his pick up. He did go on to emphasise how easy it was to tow compared to his previous twin axle. He then turned and saw our Eriba.

Doesn't it make you think? We are condemned for running a 2 litre diesel that'll do 55mpg + solo and 35mpg + towing yet these people are happy to boast 8 to 10 mpg.

We've seen it on this trip with run of the mill big campervans that either have a car in tow or run a car to the campsite separate to the camper.

I've also spent the whole of this trip we're on grating my teeth and holding back my mph while a huge Tonka toy 4 wheel drive pick up whizzes past us with a twin axle dangling on the back. I'm sure that if I took off I'd give them a run for their money but Mrs R does remind me that I'm now over 70.

Roger,
I'm also light of foot. Since swapping form my polar bear killing diesel to a wee petrol I'm feathering the throttle pedal and managed 39.3 mpg on the 280 mile trip back from Suffolk to Merseyside. I did the trip in 6hrs driving time.
