Evening all, have just got the rain strip that stops all the water going down the side of your van,its nice and white but a bit stiff. Does it need some sort of lubrication? or just a big push. Thanks Neil.

I found it quite hard to do but it made a reassuringly firm connection when finished!
I remember that it was easier if it was angled back towards the roof as I pulled it downwards.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who hasn't got a clue what you're talking about, so any chance of a picture or explanation?

My guess would be one of these? I vaguely remember Deeps trying to work out where it went when he got one with his new Walker awning
Forget the mounted roll out awning and look at the strip on the awning rail.

I'm ashamed to say that after reading this:

You could try a wipe with fairy liquid along the part that gets inserted into the rail, or it may be just a case of cleaning the awning rail out, if it's tight you can get awning rail opener which you push through to ensure adequate clearance

It clips on to the gutter upstand.

In last month's downpour of biblical proportions near Narbonne, I noticed that water was seeping down the side of the van from the awning rail.

Can one of these strips be used with a full awning to prevent this or are they only intended for use with the pull-out sunshade wotsits?

Deeps got one with his full Walker awning so yes .....I think it clips on to the top of the awning rail and acts as a larger gutter?

This is just my understanding............I don't have one.

I vaguely remember something about setting the van a bit front high to allow the water to run off the back quicker too ?

I think that's the general idea, Nev.

They're pretty expensive though - twenty five-odd quid seems quite a lot for three or four metres of plastic extrusion which you might only need once in a blue moon.

There are other (cheaper) edge or flange seals around which would clip on to the gutter and probably do a similar job for a lot less money. I had thought about blagging a sample from one of the online suppliers to see if it worked, but never got round to bothering.
