Hi has anyone converted the wardrobe hanging space into shelves? We think it would be more practical and provide more storage. Any photos or tips from people that have done this appreciated

Thanks

Hi,
We use this http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00245880/ (hope the link works) (or similar) from Ikea and it works just fine.
We even have a little hanging space left in our wardrobe

We have used the hanging things for some time now but I have become a bit disenchanted with them as they have become a little saggy.

......space left for 'ooo er missus' type jokes!

We have also used boxes but gave up on them as they still used up the space even when empty.
Since Eriba production returned to Germany the newer vans have the electric supply and control units in the wardrobe which takes up quite a bit of the space!
We found that we did not use the hanging space so I have now made some shelves to try out. They are sitting in the garage waiting for the return of our Troll.
Eriba ownership seems to be a constant process of trying out or adapting new things for personal use!

It's been left at AL for some warranty work and we are missing it!

That's what we brought but the shelves are really flimsy and stuff falls out!
In a compact space it has to be tidy or I start to twitch so was hoping for a better solution. It will the hanging shelves for the next trip but I need a long term solution

We used storage boxes like Hob above, but put ours on there side so we could get at stuff easier, we also used large "trolley" bags from the large supermarkets, they fit 3 or 4 to the underseat area and keep everything up together, can be loaded in the house and carried out and put straight in.

To be honest, there are so manys things that you learn over the years you forget others don't know as they are at a different learning stage, I say it like that as we all learn all the time, hopefully!!

Hi
I have put 2 shelves in using thin mdf and rebated some 1"x1" pine to screw to the frame then used 1"x1/2" pine and small "L" brackets as batons across the middle. All then stained to almost the colour of the wardrobe. I could put some pictures on if needed.

Pictures of your shelves would be great! I think we will be putting shelves in so to see it done will help us see how it looks! Does it work better than the small hanging space or hanging rails?

Just a small note on safety, if you look at my picture at the rear of the wardrobe on the right is what looks like a cardboard tube................this is the heater flue that carries the burnt gasses from the heater to the chimney on the roof so care should be taken not to damage it in any way.

Last 4 trips I took a proper shirt and some posh black trousers..................never wore them once

Now the bear has a new tie and a posh hat and his eyebrows trimmed I might have to dress up a bit

This year he's pulled more times than I have
