Herzim strip

On our recent tour of Spain the waist and skirt strip started falling out, [2004 Triton] it seems to have shrunk in width and hardened so that it is loose in the channel, so I thought it would be a good idea to replace the lot, does anyone know the width of the strip, mine is so shrunk and distorted I cant measure it, I would like to replace the lot [round the door, gas locker etc.]

This is the genuine replacement that I obtained from Jason at Automotive Leisure and, as you can see, it measures 12mm when pressed flat.

I've just been quoted £6 per metre for 12mm herzim strip by AL (today 23 June 2016)!!! This can't be right surely?

Check out Herzim strip on eBay. Usually around £1 per metre.

I had great problems finding the correct bright red strip that I needed and had to return some 'cherry' that I bought on eBay as it was more maroon than red.

In the end I bought a length from AL as I couldn't find it anywhere else.

I hope you have better luck. If you are wanting white, there shouldn't be a problem.

The infill strip in Brian's photo above is original equipment. Herzim - the strip you can get off Ebay - isn't the same, though it does the same job. Herzim strip doesn't have the two grooves along its length.

It may well be that the strip fitted to the vans as new costs more, and whether it's worth spending the extra kind of depends on whether you want to stick with the original specification stuff or not.

Good point, Pete, thank you.

Therso, you may find the following thread link useful and as you will see, the stuff I bought from AL was much cheaper than you have been quoted. Herzim strip

I'd been thinking of replacing the white infill in our awning rail but couldn't work out why it was that all the Herzim strip I'd come across wasn't the same as what's on the van.

Having pulled the rail strip out (and put it back again) without any effort, I couldn't understand why replacing it with what I assumed was the same thing by a different name seemed to require either fingers of steel, some kind of special tool or at the very least, vigorous exertions with a warm teaspoon.

Then I found out that the original stuff isn't Herzim at all, which explained everything. And like you, I couldn't find the OEM strip anywhere else either.

got my silver from leisure shop direct, didn't fancy red or white other than the wider strengthening strips, fitting was put in warm water to soften, then I used a wooden handle to slide along the top where fit, was an event don't wish to repeat to soon
recently fitted the one inside after the roof clean

now if you want to pimp your eriba can recommend new loo door hinge pins lol functional and way out there teehee

Hi, We have just bought 22M of Silver Grey Hertzim 12mm wide from COH Baines Ltd. We ordered 22M only because the min order was £10...works out at 46p metre. We thought when it arrived it was too wide but it went in quite easily after warming it.
