Does anyone have a problem with Algae collecting around the pop top seal. At the beginning of the better weather invariably I have to remove the seal & thoroughly clean & replace. Does anyone know how I can overcome this problem?

My method is to clean it well then cover it with a roof cover

There is a bit of info in this link and a product that may help, although I am sure most generic caravan cleaners will do the same job. It's as soon as it gets sunlight the algae spores will multiply. By adding the roof cover you are starving it of its main food source.

A bit of Algae blurb

Algae reproduce very quickly and need only sunlight (or another form of energy, like sugar), water, carbon dioxide and a few inorganic nutrients to grow.

We had a similar problem as our Eriba was kept outside, I used to remove the bump strip / seal yearly and soak it in bleach solution, then scrub it. I was goinng to but never got around to, put an overlap of electricians tape around the roof, electricians tape is available in a plethora of colours and you could add one to match your Herzim strip or decals?

Easy enough job, just a bit of a faff to do, but if your "losing the fight against algae" it could be a solution?

I hope I've explained it properly?

There is a product called 'Wet and Forget' which is designed to fight and clear green algae. It is sold in the USA for use on boats and RVs and can also be used on patios and decking. After application it is activated by moisture (rain and condensation) which through repetition eventually cleans and then keeps clean. I have used this on paving slabs and a tiled roof and the effect is surprisingly good with algae and other dirt disappearing over a period of time. I reckon it would work well on the trim strip however because of the shape of the strip dirt will always collect in it!

Wet and Forget is available from Amazon.
