It's a wonderful forum, and who could have foreseen its remarkable growth? Given that is has grown, and given that those of us that use it do so for free whilst others shoulder the costs I think that there should be some sort of contribution across the board. Whether that is compulsory or voluntary is, I think, a matter for the administrators but I for one would be more than happy to start off with a £10 per anum annual 'membership' contribution and then pay more as the forum continues to grow year on year.
Just my thoughts...

First issue from me is to thank the admin and moderators for their management of the forum, in keeping if simple, honest and fun.
I would be happy to contribute via the PP suggested account.
We had e a large sum of money refunded from the fish and chip night payment at Netley and Carole was asking what to do with the cash. There was a joke comment about donate it to Forum funds. Worthy as that was, she felt that it was only a very small percentage of members present at the Mini Meet and therefore not covenient and considered to just bung it to funds. She traced all who had paid for the excellent supper and returned the cash.

Firstly 'thanks' to our Administrators , Moderators and all contributors to this Forum. Much work must have gone into making 'Eribafolk' such an entertaining and 'well balanced' and sensibly moderated Forum.
I have no problem in contributing a "membership fee". Some may prefer this to be totally voluntary and anonymous , but easier if a 'procedure ' is set up to cover this :)

I think it depends on how much you need to raise. If the costs are substantial, I think a subscription is perfectly in order but, in order not to put people off joining, it should become due at maybe 1 or 2 months after joining. If everyone pays the cost will be very small.
If the money needed is quite small, you will likely get enough with a voluntary payment from the regulars here, with the amount to be determined by them anonymously, so they can afford it.
We would be more than happy to pay either way.
Also a big thankyou from us to Admin and Mods and also to all the very regular contributors. We are a bit sporadic in posting but others are always there to help with questions etc and their contribution is valued.

Over the past 12 months there have been various suggestions regarding the creation of and selling Eribafolk merchandise and I would like to ensure members that this hasn't been overlooked.
The biggest problem with creating funds in this way is that the forum would need to speculate when purchasing and hope that there will be a profitable return on the products.
At the moment I'm in the process of contacting the rest of the admin. team to discuss a product that John (Poptop320) has investigated. He has had a few samples produced and I would like to thank him for his interest and the time he has dedicated to developing this product.
For further details, watch this space.

It's not just merchandise, but the upkeep of the forum, band width, hosting etc etc and the chat at the Mini Meet was that the admin are funding this without income from the forum.

That was true for the first year, Roger will correct me if i'm wrong but sticker sales and donations have covered this years fees and it looks from responses so far to this topic that donations will perhaps be the way to continue with future funding.
As a newer member of the team I have watched this topic with interest to see how it progresses and am more than willing to add a donation myself.

You are correct regarding this year's funding, Neville. Sales and donations covered everything.
I've been deliberately holding back from responding to posts in this thread as I don't want to be seen to be influencing the discussion until everyone who wants to has had an opportunity to make their feelings known.
Further comments anyone? We really do want to know what you think.

Me too as a new member of the forum team didn't want to seem like I was trying to influence things but it seems to have gone quiet for a day or two so thought I would add my comment.

We'll be happy to make a good contribution to the running costs of the forum. We consider it to be an invaluable resource for Eriba owners.
