Plastic roof cowl

Greetings!
I am a new member and have a Triton 2008 model.
We used to holiday in the UK until our family grew up and left, although our grand children are now replacing them. We also get to France every year to recover.
I have a query regarding the plastic roof cowl on the flat roof at the rear of the van and that is how to dismantle it for cleaning. After 7 years I feel that it deserves a clean up. The manual does not mention it.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Hi and

Are you talking about the small plastic chimney on the side of the pop top?? We just unscrew ours and it comes off very easily. We also have an extension which you need to fit if running the gas fire...which to date have not put on!!

I think you mean the air vent in the middle of the roof between the pop top and the back of the van. If so the plastic piece in the ceiling inside the van pulls out and can be cleaned and you can also access the inside of the cowl/dome for cleaning.
regards
Andy

It's a stupid addition......as if there wasn't enough ventilation in an Eriba?

Thanks for all of your comments. I agree that it seems unnecessary to add even more ventilation to an Eriba. I assume that it guarantees a fixed amount of ventlation while using the gas cooker, with the windows and zipped vents closed.
Special thanks to Andy The Hat. As he suggested, I managed to prise the plastic grille loose with a screw driver without damaging the padded ceiling, but it was a very tight fit. It's a good job that I am only cleaning this every 7 years!!!

The outside bit will come off as well. You pull each side out out slightly and up over the retainers. Gave mine a good scrub earlier in the year and removed the collected detritus from the air channels surrounding the inner square.

I suppose it helps with ventilation should you have the roof down due to weather conditions or storage where some may crank the windows a little this does the job with the windows etc sealed.
