TV aerial pre cabling

Bit cold here at Cherry Hinton but the gas heater is doing splendidly! Steam coming out of the chimney.... TV set up. Now here's my question. The upper rear locker in our Familia has a piece of aerial cable coming into it with a sticker in three languages saying "TV antenna pre-cabling". Can anyone tell us where the other end is? Sally

Have a look under the rear seats for one of these ..............near a locker door that opens to the outside if you have one.

Great, found it! What now? We've just bought a length of cable from the site office but putting it through t he pop top ruins the line of my newly fashioned insulation skirt.

It's ok. Neville has unscrewed it and found the cable. Thank you very much for responding so quickly. Just a trip to Maplin tomorrow to get a few bits and pieces. Always fun! Sally

I don't use mine, I just knew where it was I use a mast clamped to the jockey wheel and run the cable through the window, then close the window and the rubber window seal just seals round it.

I think the idea is you run the cable in to the under seat bit and plug the telly into the top locker ??

Hi Hob, on the question of TV in the Eriba. I have nothing but the TV at present and ordering the flat bit of cable to run through the window. I have asked a site where I will be visiting what connectors I need to have and they came back and said my ariel should pick up the signal from the site? do they mean that reception at that site is good? so do I only need to pick up an ariel and cable to put outside the Eriba and any ariel recommendations would be welcome.

Another site I am intending to visit states it has plug in TV points that are F connectors so I will have different cable for there? it's a mine field!!!

Hi Taffy,

Lots of people have different idea's about tv aerials. .............me? i use one of these

Werbung: Kit on ebay

You can probably get one from your local caravan shop I did, the kit linked to has all the bits needed to clamp the mast to the jockey wheel stem and about 3 m of cable which is plenty to reach my tv at the front of the 430 if you plan to put it at the back you may need a short extension.

The flat bit to go through the window I found was a dead loss and ruined the reception so it went in the bin the cable goes through the window and the seal closes over it when you close the window.

said my ariel should pick up the signal from the site?

I presume they mean the signal is good there?

Its in the nature of things that a lot of sites are in fairly remote places where reception is not the best, and on some sites I have failed to get a signal worth having.

Several sites now provide an aerial point near each pitch and some even provide an extension lead to reach it, i bought a cheap one and found it was rubbish .......see this topic first post

Top tip topic

F connectors are normally used for satellite connections so worth checking exactly what the mean? terrestrial are usually Coax Cable if they really mean they use F connectors for terrestrial tv then a set of adapters are not expensive from your local tv shop.

Freeview tv I find apart from news and weather is not worth watching most of the time, with that in mind my tv has a dvd player built in and I always take some dvd's with me, ............handy too if the aerial signal does not work
