What do you consider to be a minium tool requirement? My husband wants to be ready for immediate repairs. He has he jack for the tyres.

An assortment of screwdrivers, bar and socket for removing the wheel nuts, tyre pressure gauge, a voltage tester for starters (according to my OH). Depends on your level of skill and how much you would be capable of doing. After that some tape (for broken poles and other disasters), bulbs for the external and internal lights and a spirit level. No doubt others will add to this list.

I would have said, as long as you have the jack, the next most important tools are the corkscrew and beer bottleopener ;)
