Protec Winter Cover
Have just heard from my stepson who stores our Eriba for us in the UK that the brand new Protec cover which was put on in mid December has developed a tear at the area of the chimney ( extension was taken off ).
Fortunately there is a 'shop' nearby where we can have it mended but I think this is a poor show for Protec as they are not exactly cheap.
Has anyone else had this experience? .......... Is there some type of cap which can be put on when the extension is taken off to prevent it happening again.

Hi
Have just phoned the UK to be told that there was some spare material in the box, no instructions as to what it was for so he assumed it was for any repairs that may need doing. Flying over ourselves next week ( heading up to Aberdeen Brrrrrr ) so will have a look in the box myself.

It is essential that you cover any sharp areas (such as the chimney) with bubble wrap or something similar as the cover will move about in strong winds and wear through where it makes contact. It's not a defect in the manufacture of the cover just an error in how it was fitted to the caravan. I did exactly the same thing the first winter I used ours.
Repairing a Protec is dead easy, just glue a patch cut from the spare fabric that comes with the cover over the tear (on the outside) using Evostik contact adhesive being sure to follow the instructions on the tin of adhesive.

Have just been sent a photo of the ' scrap' piece of material which was in the box. When opened out reckon it is the part for the chimney so will just have to put it down to experience!!
Photo is before it was opened out and to admit it does just look like a piece of extra material.image.jpeg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)
Thank you to everyone who posted solutions.

I tried the tennis ball over after removing the cowl bit and put the ball over the pipe left, however in wind it blew off and was a pain.I found that the bets thing was one of those transparent pots that you buy with houmus fitted a treat and went over the pipe and dropped down and never blew off.
