Front marker lights

Hi
I wonder if there's anybody out there that can help me? I have a 320 GT and need to change a bulb on one of the front marker lights. I took the reflector off but can't seem to get into the back of the unit to change the bulb. Has anybody any experience of this?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Best regards
Peter

Hi Peter.
I'm not sure what the problem is here. On our '99 Eriba, the lower front side light refectors are just held in by the rubber gaskets and once removed the bulbs are exposed.
The top lights (red/white) reflectors are screwed in top and bottom and once the reflector and back plate is removed, it's a little bit of a fiddle to remove and replace the 12v 5w festoon bulb through the back plate but on our model at least, it is possible.
Perhaps it's a different set up on newer models?

Hi Randa,
Thanks for your reply. I've attached a picture showing the front marker light. Are these different from yours? When you take the reflector off the whole unit seems to be stuck together and you can't get to the bulb.
I wonder if you or anybody else knows whether you need to have these on by law?
All the best Peter

Quote: Peter Rhind wrote in post #3It seems that the answer to this is yes. Have a look here. Table VI. The relevant specs are in Schedule 2, part 1.

Hi Peter.
Unfortunately your pic didn't come out but below is a photo of the ones on our van. Looking through the gallery it does look as though this is standard for some of the newer vans as well.
When I changed the bulb in ours last Autumn I seem to remember that when I removed the screws, the reflector unit came away from the van body and there was a semi back plate on it. The dud bulb was difficult to get out through a slot in the back plate (a small screwdriver did the trick) but the new festoon bulb was fairly easy to push through the slot into the cradles.

What age is your van?

The marker lights on my 2006 triton are made by Hella

Which should take this type bulb

Which usually require a gentle push in and a twist to release and align the pins before pulling out ........... fitting a new one is the same in reverse

Success!!!
The push and twist worked but it was very stiff and I had to use pliers. The bulb is in like a plastic lamp-holder with a bayonet fitting.
Thanks you-all
