Picture Hanging hook

We have just finished decorating the kitchen having got a really good bloke to do the hall, stairs and landing. He was superb. quiet, on time and very very good value. So we decided to do the kitchen ourselves - easy!
Not really, took us 3 1/2 days, a lot of misfortunes, breakages, swearing and wishes we hadn't started.
Tried to rehang the many photos and pictures but we have always had problems with engineering brick under the plaster and these regualar damn hook and pins you can buy bend too easily.
I am now going to search the market if there are sturdier pins particularly and maybe some that in but a little bent and I feel are unsafe, especially if someone else tries to straighten something they are not aware of a like a dodgy pin behind one of my masterpieces or more liekly family photos.
Any ideas - sensible hah please

The nails used in cable clips are masonry nails. Just pull suitably-sized ones out of the clip and try those.
You may still struggle if your walls are proper engineering bricks, though it's unusual to build entire walls out of them because of the cost. They're most often used down at DPC level with stock facing brick courses above.

Living in a Victorian Stone property, we've had a similar problem for many years.
Often, I've found one of these :- Rawlplug MasonMaster hand tool more efficient than a drill.
However, I'm not sure of their availability nowadays and I've lost mine somewhere.
Making a hole, then a rawl plug and screw is often the only way I can hang things on our walls.

We've used these stick-on picture hangers with great success, Derek. They hold fast but can easily be removed without damaging the walls.

Ditto, used the Command hanging strips as the walls in our old house were cr*p. Used them again in the new place as they are so easy and as the electricians seem to have buried cables just where I want to hang pictures. Also used Command hooks in our old PuckL as they were damage free and easily removeable.

The previous owner of my van put several adhesive hooks in the kitchen and bathroom, quite useful so they remain. Having watched the video in the link, I now know what the funny little tabs at the bottom are for, thanks.

I used to live in a 16th century house with stone walls, and these did the trick. They come in various sizes and i think you can get a brass version which are more aesthetic if the hooks aren't covered by the picture.
