Stocking cupboards during transportation

Hi folks quick (and probably stupid) question. Basically Lynn and I hope to soon be taking delivery of Baldrick our new Familia 310. However neither of us has previously owned or used a caravan so we have no idea what to do when it comes to ensuring the contents of the cupboards are travel safe i.e. Do we need to keep glasses and crockery and pans etc. Stowed in boxes during transit to prevent breakages or are things generally OK to just put away normally and hope nothing smashes enroute ?

Any advice on the matter of best practice, handy hints etc gratefully received. I just have visions of us stocking up and then finding on arrival it's all smashed to bits.

Richard

Hi Richard.

You need a cunning plan
....

Keep anything that is heavy in the lower cupboards, eg. pots and pans, tinned food, etc. Use the overhead lockers for lightweight items like tea towels, mugs and glasses etc.

To protect them during the journey see Packing breakables in the caravan

Finally, make sure all your locker doors are closed and latched before you set off.

we tend to use lock and lock boxes, hook and loop taped together, for tea bags, powers, coffee ect, left in upper locker
plates are in wire draw and knives folks are in lock and lock in drawer are put on floor, would hate a sharp potato knife to escape during touring.
and a cheese biscuit box holds the tinned things, cups go in fridge wrapped in micro fibre cloths
pans usually stay on shelf in lower kitchen cupboard.

Here is my storage under cooker cupboard and under sink for all paraphernalia, with the lighter bits in the overhead cupboards.

Our stockings are in the upper levels, but being of fine denier we've never had any fall out except when the skirts get too short.
