I took delivery of my 2000 Eriba Familia last season and decided to put up the Soplair awning this year for the first time. Only to find a key piece of the frame was missing!! Does anyone know where I can get a spare part for the frame and where I can buy a new frame for the soplair as the cover is in excellent condition?

Which piece is missing?

There's a diagram here (scroll down below picture).

Many frame parts are the same in different manufacturers awnings and there are often bins of frame parts in caravan accessory shops. Perhaps if you could let us know which part it is then any Eribafolk members in accessory shops in the near future could help in the search?

Might be worth asking the lady who runs this place. I was talking to that nice Jeff Bowen (the awning geezer in Suffolk) a while ago and he said that he takes a tiddly trailer full of spare poles and odds and ends to her whenever he's collected enough to make it worthwhile.

Hopefully have attached the correct photo. It's the middle riser (bottom section) that goes into aluminum trim...as you can tell I'm a relative newcomer to caravaning!

Unfortunately your picture didn't enlarge when I clicked it, Terry, but if I understand correctly, you are missing the lower part of the adjustable central riser. Two types are available.

Awning centre pole.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

The above picture shows the poles from a Soplair awning that I have just sold and have yet to deliver to the new owner.

As you can see, the locking screw on the adjuster is fitted to the upper section and assuming that you already have this, all you will need is a 230mm length of 22mm outside diameter (20mm internal diameter) alloy or steel tube from which to make a replacement. A trip to your local tip should turn up something suitable.

If you have the fitting shown in your picture attached to your caravan rail then all you have to do is flatten 30mm at the end of the tube in a vice with a slight offset and this end fits into the bracket.

The other type fitting has a 6mm diameter spike that projects 50mm from the end. On mine this is held in place by a special plastic bung but I'm sure it would be simple enough to fashion a spike from a suitable nail and then secure it in place with a carved wooden bung or alternatively it could be fixed in place with epoxy resin.

I hope this helps.

A tent pole end spike like this epoxied into the end of the appropriate diameter alloy tube will do the job. I made a gable riser for our Walker awning using one of these. The lady on Ebay I linked to a couple of posts ago will supply sections of suitable tube in steel or alloy. She has masses of secondhand awning poles.
