Awning rail question

When we had our PuckL it had a higher awning rail that just ran straight across the front of the van above the other awning rail (the one that goes all the way round the van). Now we have a 420GT, so today we offered up the Caravanstore. With a bit of awning rail widening we got it threaded in. The problem is the little white plastic discs inside where the roof beam sits used to be flat against the van. Now they are at an angle, resting against the awning rail, and the roof beam drops out. We have shoved a couple of bits of wood up behind the Caravanstore to make it sit flat and that works but that can't be the answer. What am I missing, how do other peoples Caravanstores fit against their vans?
Any help appreciated.
Julie

We have had Fiamma Caravanstores on various Eribas and the plastic locators have always sat flat against the van wall. You haven't inserted the whole thing upside down have you??? So that the plastic inserts are now above the awning rail?

for info, if you unzip and unwind the caravan store it bends round when sliding in awning rail slightly easier..

think ours sits against van, off to the blog to see photos, will edit if not..

Thanks for replies, Tony it's definitely not upside down but when it's threaded into the awning rail the plastic discs sit against the herzim strip and then angle down where the rail goes round (if you see what I mean). So they are most certainly below the awning rail but not flat, most odd.
Pop540, wish we had thought of that before easing the awning rail as although we did it carefully it is noticeable now, Neil is a perfectionist and is not happy.

It sounds almost as if the plastic locators are mounted too high in the bag! I have used Caravanstores on 2 different Tritons and 2 different Trolls but never come across this issue before. Any chance of a picture?
It would be possible to move them further down if that would solve it.
Does your Caravanstore have the grey foam pads behind the plastic bits on the outside of the bag?

No foam pads on the outside, we bought the Caravanstore secondhand so maybe they had already come off. Will have a look tomorrow to see if we can move the plastic discs.
I would love to post a picture, I know there is a helpful tip on posting photos, unfortunately my technical ineptitude means that I have no idea how to get the photo out of the camera and onto the computer. Our memory card doesn't fit in the little pop out bit where it is supposed to go and even if it did I still wouldn't know what to do with it, where are your children when you need them? Ungrateful wretches all grown up and left home without a thought for their poor mother and her non existent computer skills.

I can send you a pair of the foam pads. They are self adhesive and just there to protect the van sides.

suppose the only perfection fix will be another awning rail, [what]
depending how old depends on who should do it,
of course you could do a belt and braces and fit another underlay underlay eriba eriba, sorry

perhaps just live with it as being a mark to identify in a field full of eriba's and enjoy eriba to the fullest instead,

Julie, are you trying to fit your Puck L caravanstore onto a triton?............. I spent a fair bit of time looking at the right caravanstore for a triton and eventually bought a second hand one from another member near by............ the plastic cups are a close fit between the awning rail and the window tops.

Post 2009 eriba have a bigger gap between window top and awning rail ............. pre 2009 it is very narrow so not the best fit

Mine adjusts ok the plastic strips fit just below the rail and above the window but its tight between the two, I take it your new eriba is pre 2009 so you may need a longer one?

Its a tight fit below the rail

Thinking about it the legs come out of the tube and swivel down so could just as easy swivel up so are you sure its not in the rail upside down?

ps. Julie, I have found 2 of the plastic locator pieces so if you think lowering them would be a solution you could glue this pair below the others.

Tony, that sounds like a cunning plan but would it be too close to the windows? It's dark outside now so I'm not going to look at the mo. Job for another day methinks.
Julie.

A few pictures to show more clearly what I mean,

Pic one........ this shows how narrow the gap between the awning rail and the window top is on a pre 2009 van and note there is no gap at all above the door.

P1000069.JPG - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

pic two shows that the plastic cup has to go one side or other of the door.......... the red line denotes the start of the front curve of the wall the cup must be inside that.
P1000968.JPG - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

pic three shows the rear section again the red line shows the start of the curve and the red circle where the plastic cup needs to fit on my van
P1020007.JPG - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

pic four just shows how much bigger the rail to window gap is on a post 2009 van.

Caravanstores are not designed to fit an Eriba and can be tricky to fit, the legs have to be extended to make the canvas come out level or even slope towards the van a little to avoid the front brace fouling the door as it opens, this also applies to post 2009 vans as the door still goes all the way up to the rail.

Pic five shows how the front needs to be raised to allow the door to fully open.
