In the picture you can see the joint in the tap body that for some reason moves apart causing the tap to leak and water to pool on the tray inside the cupboard below.

The fix is to remove the tap body from the sink and press the parts back together until you hear a click as they relocate. Be prepared to exert a lot of pressure to achieve this. I had to kneel my full body weight on mine since which it hasn't leaked again.
Looking at the gap in the picture, I'm now concerned that another repair will soon be necessary. Perhaps there's an O ring that needs replacing?

ours did this after our first winter, thought was because not all water had drained our of pipe it had some how exerted force to push tap apart. not happened since we blow air through to remove water for winter.
we had the tap out while removing sink,
need to cut off the water pipe, unless flexible to get under there to remove from where joins
unscrew the shower pipe from springy thing
undo wires then undo the middle nut under sink,
tap then lifts out

Thanks to both for the advice. We're away in the Eriba at the moment, and our leak isn't too serious yet, so I won't do anything until we're home and I've got a proper toolbox available. At which time I'll report back.

As I feared, when I started to sanitise the water system this morning prior to our journey later in the week, water was pouring out of that gaping joint in the tap body and running all over the place when the tap was operated. There was no alternative, it had to come out for repair.
The main problem is access as the under basin space is restricted and everything has to be done at full stretch. As Amanda says (above) you will need to:
1. Disconnect the wires to the tap at the terminal block attached to the caravan wall. Mine fell apart so I had to replace it. When I did, I found that the 'electrician' at Cernay had screwed the terminals through the plastic insulation on the wires so I remade the connections too.
2. Unscrew the shower hose being careful to put the black rubber sealing washer somewhere safe.
3. Pull the water inlet pipe off the spigot (expect some spillage when you do this)
4. Unscrew the nylon back nut off the main body of the tap so that the assembly (or in my case two separate parts) can be removed.

This picture shows the two parts of the unit as removed from my wash hand basin. The black rubber washer that I mentioned lives in the joint between chrome nut on the left and a nylon fitting on the end of the flexible pipe on the right.

This shot shows the O ring that seals the joint between the tap unit halves (top). Check that it has not been damaged and if it has, replace it with a new one.
5. Assemble the tap halves together by hand. I found it helped to smear the O ring with a very small amount of silicone lubricant to help ease it into position without damage

Here you can see the tap unit partially assembled and placed between the jaws of my vice ready to be pressed back together. The blue spigot is where the incoming water feed from the tank attaches.
6. Gently compress the two parts until you see and possibly hear them click back together.

If you compare this picture with the one above, you will see how the joint should look when correctly assembled.
7. Reassemble the tap into the basin and test for leaks. All being well, you will have solved the problem. It may be a good idea to check the shower head for limescale deposits while you are at it. Viakal and an old toothbrush will soon have it clean again.
As I always drain the water system before laying the van up for the winter and leave the taps open (thanks to the isolator switch that John England fitted when he upgraded my BIP unit), I thought that I would be protected against frost damage but I think Amanda is onto something when she suggests that some water may remain in the shower tap unit and as it freezes expand forcing the parts apart at the joint.
Next year I'll make sure that I blow through the tap to remove any dregs before winterising the Triton.

Fully detailed subject and discussion guy, smashing. Haven't got that problem but the truma push in connect for my water supply from pump in exterior tank is very difficult to home in securely. Carole has real difficulty engaging it, to connect. So do I.

Aaron a well documented write up,
Hampershireman think there is a rubber o ring that causes resistance, try lubricating if already touring a small smear of butter or marg, or lard,?,
all easy to remove with hot water, and micro fibre cloth.

The other thing is that the electrical connections get corroded and this makes it harder to seat properly too. Give the pins a squirt with some switch cleaner and lubricant and work the plug in and out a few times until they free off.
Servisol. That's what you need.
It's a good thing to keep in your tool kit. Much better than WD40 for cleaning electrical contacts.

Quick update.
When I laid the caravan up for the winter last November, I took Amanda's advice and blew through the pipework to make sure that all water was removed from the system and this time the blue tap stayed in one piece.
