STARBRITE Marine Polish with PTEF

Hi,

Has anybody any experience of using Starbrite Marine Polish with PTEF to protect the glass-fibre roofs of Eribas? It's normally used for boats but it seems to provide excellent protection, especially UV protections, for glass-fibre.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Peter

Not any experience of these products, but i used these after some research. This product is made for marine use also.
I used Farecia G3 Paste Compound, and Farecia Wax Top Liquid Wax Polish, approx £40.00 delivered, for my 2001 Troll which had a very dusty/gritty roof, now has a lovely sheen.I used an electric polisher for the wax finish. Don't go too hard with the paste as its a thin coat on the roofs.Polisher certainly saved me a lot of elbow grease.

Highmiler.

Hi Thanks for this but Farecia Wax does not seem to be specifically formulated for protecting glass-fibre. I'm not too worried about gaining a high gloss it's more to do with making the roof last as long as possible. On the other hand, I don't want to use something that's going to make a mess of the roof.

Useful feedback though.

Thanks
Peter

Over the past five years I've tried all manner of polishes and protectants on the glass fibre and none has prevented the finish going chalky again.

The coincidence is that today I've rubbed down the gel coat with a mild form of T-cut and then applied a coat of Farecla Wax Top. It looks good but I've no doubt it will all need doing again next spring.

Best of luck in your search for the miracle product and if you do find it, please let us know.

Since 2014 and on the advice of several folk here, I've used Autoglym only when necessary and an annual wax polish containing carnuaba. In our case Simoniz original Wax. No complaints here.

Grp and fibreglass roof shine? Which uv protectant product?

OK thanks Aaron / Randa. I've also heard that wax containing carnuaba is the best one to go for and especially one that provides UV protection. I 'll do a bit more research and get back. As a starter I've emailed Starbrite's technical support in Fort Lauderdale so hope to get some feedback.

Hello Peter
We use 3 different Starbrite products bought from our local chandlery. I can't remember the first make we used but then changed to this make last August and found a great improvement and easier to use.
We used the Starbrite Fiberglass Color Restorer first to clean the roof and 2 sides (we have an Eriba Future 430T, which also has 2 walls made of fibreglass), this works like a mild T-Cut. It will take a bit of elbow grease and only do small parts at a time.
We then used the Starbrite Premium Marine Polish with PTEF. This is a very thick cream and works better if kept in the warm before use. This is easy to put on and rub off. It also works very well with an electric polisher. Use sparingly and a 397gr tub should last 12-18months. Keith polishes the van 2-3 times a year and has not 'bloomed' yet.
In between times of polishing we use the Starbrite Wash and Wax.
It's not cheap but can fully recommend it.

Hi Chris,

You've convinced me. I'll go get some from my local chandlery.

I'll still let people know of any response I get from Starbrite's Technical Support.

best regards
Pete
