Broken roller blind bracket
Broken roller blind bracket

When we arrived at the EOC rally last Friday, I found the front left hand roller blind hanging away from the window.
The photo shows the reason for what I found.
With gaffer tape on it, we managed carefully whilst away and now I need to repair it.
Does anyone know if thebracket can be sourced as an item or is it part of the frame of the blind. That could mean real money, so a repair would be useful.
I have one idea from the ever dependable font of all knowledge Frantone. which is to imerse the broken bit with plastic Araldite I think he said, then drill a hole and screw through it, being careful to protect the inner wall surface when applying the no doubt hot lethal Araldite.

http://www.onlinebearings.co.uk/Araldite...g-Adhesive.html Always part of our tool kit Derek. I'm sure I fixed the same problem using this product, a few years ago.

Thanks mate, sounds like the right stuff. Will have a go.
The van needs a good clean right now, awful weather and big detour off A35 which was closed so country s*i* being thrown up by every wheel passing etc.

If you're going to try Araldite, Derek, I'd glue a suitably-sized stainless steel washer to the back of the broken part so that the fixing screw passes through its hole as well. It'll reinforce the repair and you won't see it from the front.
It will also go some way to packing the gap between the back of the bracket and the wall. That gap (and possibly a bit of injudicious over-tightening at some point) has already caused the distortion of the screw lug and that's why the broken off bit is bent.
Bed the washer in the Araldite. You can always run a drill through the hole after it's set if you've inadvertently blocked it with glue.

Thanks chaps, there isn't a gap behind the broke bit, certainly not to fit a washer in there. Might have a go later today. Things to do as usual.

You still wouldn't see it from the front, and without it I reckon you'd bust the glued joint the first time you re-tightened the screw.
Anyway, suit yourself.
Don't say I didn't warn you
