Just wondering - given that in the old days we just stuck a bit of coat-hanger in the socket on the B&W TV - would it work to run a few loops of wire round the pop-top skirt and feed to a signal booster thingy or is that too simple for FeeView signals?
In most cases I'm afraid its not that simple, signal frequencies have changed, televisions have changed to the extent where you need a decoder of some sort to even see the results of a signal even if you can get it.
Most campsites are out in the country and often not too near the local transmitter, that and a reluctance to spend large amounts of money on infrastructure in a world where lots of people have turned to satellite receivers means houses either have a decent sized antenna up high or a satellite dish to get their tv.
My local area is very limited freesat wise as its midway between 3 big transmitters and is supplied by a very small booster mast with a limited number of channels split between tv and radio.
So yes certainly for tv the "coathanger" type days are probably over.
