Not wanting to hijack the thread on reception thought it best to start this one for advice.

I have the Avtex omni direction ariel and tried to use the suction cup which would't work and stick to the Eriba. Although it did work when held by myself and plugging it into a friends TV in the motorhome.

The reviews on it have reported some have had a good signal without using the booster (as I don't have an Avtex tele), and some have found they had a picture even when they hadn't realised it had fallen and was on the floor outside. Today I found it would stick to the white wall of the Eriba but not on the roof.

Others have told me to get a telescopic pole on the Jockey wheel to fix and get the signal, but what does anyone else do as the suction holder should work, or is it best to get a higher position for signal pic up?

As always advice appreciated to get a working TV as in the summer it's fine but in winter months the nights are long!

We have an Avtex TV and aerial. OH says he just finds a flattish, clean place on the Eriba roof. The suction cup should be slightly damp and when the lever is pushed round generally it sticks. If the site has a reasonable signal our TV works.

There are lots of topics on the subject and I have one that fits on a post fitted to the jockey wheel (not avtex) .............however I find free-view (not having sky satellite) is so limited in choice that my priority is to have a TV with built in DVD drive so I can take a few films and TV programs on DVD to watch, it helps that I have a DVD recorder at home and have made lots of disks to take with me so have a large choice of viewing material (probably watch Avatar on dvd tonight)

I have a TV with the DVD player so will put a few films in should I get a poor reception. If my TV packs in then I would look at the Avtex TV's but at moment I had a nice flat screen digi freeview one that is fine so long as I can pick up the signals!

Just don't want to faff about with things to set up or carry as it seems to be growing and I wanted a simple as possible a solution.

If you take a laptop with you and its fairly new you can join it to the tv with an hdmi cable and view content like images etc from your laptop on your tv

Bear in mind some Avtex Tv's are 12 volt ........if you don't have a 12 volt power outlet you may not be able to power it up
