Some say it is, some say it's for factory use to lift and move the frames ! I have these on my Puck L and use them sometimes for 'servicing' jacking and as a possible emergency jacking system, using a VW 'Transporter Jack' (for the extra lift height required above the normal VW car jack!) However many recommend that you jack on the axle only, using a bottle jack or a trolley jack !

Other opinions are available ! See what others have to say !

So do we on our '99 Troll. However we failed to find a VW Transporter side jack but got an Audi equivalent at a scrap yard for a tenner. The inside dimension of the box section on ours is 22mm x 22mm and it is important to get a jack with a good fit.

I've also found it very important to push the van backwards once the handbrake is applied so that the van brakes "lock out" as this type of jack can be a little unsteady if you don't do so.

Or better still hitch it to the car. If you do that it can't go anywhere.

It is better to use the axle f you don't have a specialist jack that fits inside the square to avoid crushing the square tube.

Just campers sell a side jack for the VW camper vans, personally I wouldn't use a side operating jack, I can remember from the early BMC cars they had a similar arrangement and when used it would either collapse the sill or rip a hole in it...
