Which simple awning /sun shade

On our trip to Spain this year we have decided to leave the Soplair at home. So I am looking for a simple sun shade awning for our Puck L230. I rather like the look of the Omnistore 1200. I have measured the distance between the bottom of the awning rail and the top of the door, it is 70mm. Can anyone tell me whether the bag would foul the door, I rather think it would, and, if so has any clever forum member worked out a fix?

My other option is a simple slide in awning such as : http://www.outhausoutdoors.com/shop/wind...alvor-awning-2/

I thought of this one as it could also be fitted to the roll out awning fitted to my Land Rover :

The other benefit is obviously the price, downside is that it will take longer to fit and has to be removed completely before travel.

What do you think, any other suggestions?

I have no knowledge of the Omnistore 1200 but have purchased a Fiamma CaravanStore second hand from another member who cleverly fitted Velcro to the bag to hold it up enough to clear the door so maybe the Omnistore bag could be modified in the same way.

Another thing to check on is there room for pole ends between the rail and thee window top? Post 2009 vans have a bigger gap between rail and window top and will be less of a problem.

We had a setback with our trusty homemade sunshade/rainblocker earlier on this trip. The UV had weakened the fabric causing it to tear.

We had little option but to go out and purchase one of these in Denmark :- https://www.obelink.co.uk/isabella-shadow.html

It had proved invaluable and is so quick to slide into the awning rail or to take down. The roof material is a good strong fabric and it has carbon fibre poles.

I imagine you'd be looking at the 2.4 metre long one for the PuckL.

Here's one fitted to Pop320's Familia. g25p1442-Isabella-Shadow-Familia.html

If you go to Wilkinsons and purchase a telescopic clothes line prop ( £3.00) you can used it in the middle of the shade to give good height when you're around and lower it as Pop320's photo shows, when you leave it.

Here's ours with the addition of the line prop :- IMG_9950.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

32 Euro tarp from décathlon - UV treated and protective, comes with guy ropes and 2 poles. Bought another pair of poles, and added the piping to go in the rail of the caravan for 7 Euros. It's p in 5 minutes.

Hob, Velcro sounds interesting I'll have a look at that.

Seems most of you have the "simple" option, sheet attached via the awning rail with 2 or 3 poles, like the one I linked to.

Randa, the Isabella looks nice, is it 'soft' ie no spreader bars front or sides. Can you attach sides?

Yes, it is soft. We've used two additional guy ropes on the two front bars to spread it sideways and keep the "canvas" taut.

I think you can get sides but not for the Eriba (too shallow a roof fall). Our solution when we get home will be to pick up one or two telescopic bars with a hook on one end (for the awning rail) and a clamp on t'other (to clamp around the front pole). Then fashion a bit of canvas to suit.

From our own experience and reading other posts on the matter on here, it doesn't pay to have a side and roof as one because often the wind takes revenge on them. Our thoughts are if you want a side, keep it as separate from the roof as possible.

However we've managed fine without sides on this trip. If it's raining too hard the go indoors (light rain is OK). When we've been in baking sun we've attached a large flag or table cloth to one of the sides by using clothes pegs.

A quality windbreak will augment the shade (Isabella Shadow or Fiamma Caravanstore) and make the next best thing to a full awning.
Check out the gallery! Shades etc (not awnings) page 2 pics 11-13.

The Isabella Shadow is a great bit of kit and very easy to erect and store in the van.

You get what you pay for, ours had stood up to all weathers and still good, very easy to put up and easy to stow.

Hi Chris, hope you don't mind me hopping on. Come and take a look at our selection of canopies - you may find one you are interested in as some are specifically for Eribas only. We are also Movera dealers so if you happen to come across something you like on their website, we will be able to confirm prices for you.

I have ordered a canopy off eBay, just waiting for it to be made its 2m X 2m and costs £140 with postage. You also have to buy poles separate
at £20
I hope this isn't expensive. The Canopus are quite retro.

We added Velcro to our caravanstore and it does the job.
