Back from my latest trip and thought I might mention my cooking kit as its different to the lakeland Remoska that a lot of people rave about.

Never been much of a cook myself but living on my own means I have to do a bit, I'm definitely not a mix ingredients and bake things cook
For the first couple of years with the van I lived on salads and sandwiches or ate out or got a takeaway

A short while after I got the Triton I fitted an extra power socket under the rear seat by the locker door to provide awning power without having to run a cable out of the door or a window.

I set it upside down to make plugging things in easier, with a short extension lead with a double socket I can plug 2 things in on a table outside.

Anyway on my last trip last year I went to a caravan shop and bought these

Here you can see them both in use

In the mini oven this week I cooked sausages and bacon (in a little pyrex dish) heated a Quiche and cooked a garlic bread stick.

Total cost for the oven and hotplate around £65.00 depending where you get them, less than half the cost of a Remoska.

If you feel the need for two hotplates they do a dual one as well

I did think about it but heard they were very power hungry and would not work with my alloy cooking pans.

Some notes for new members on power usage

oven 800 watt (3.5 amp)

hob 1000 watt (4.35 amp)

Both running together (7.85 amp )

so ok to use both together on a 10 or 16 amp pitch .......... on a 6 amp pitch use only one at a time

6 amp pitches are always a problem when cooking ........ example a high speed domestic kettle for use at home usage 3000 watt equates to 13 amps

please refer to my topic on electricity in the link below.
