Dear members we are in the process of buying a new Eriba and note you can have either a two or three burner hob. Any thoughts on which is preferable?the standard uk spec is for two but the old ones seem to have three? Thanks for your assistance

2 is sufficient. You may not be able to get 3 pans on anyway.

to the forum.

Its something only you can answer really, depending how likely you are to need all 3 at once, I travel on my own and rarely cook in the van others will be 2 or 3 in the van and cook most days.

I guess you need to weigh up the extra cost of having a 3 burner hob and how often you may need it.

A lot of people carry some sort of small electric cooker.

Me? i eat a lot of sandwiches and salads or get a takeaway.

It depends on the size of the pan, init. You won't get three woks the size of galvanised bin lids on there, but being gastronomes we cook with three pans constantly.

So I would say you is utterly wrong in your assertion that two is sufficient.

N'est ce pas.

3 are good because even if you only use 2 at once you get more space between the pans and can use bigger ones.

My little Puck L has 3 gas rings, but we rarely use gas to cook ! If on 'hook - up' ,whether you have 2 or 3 why not use a low wattage electric kettle plus a Remoska, and a single induction hob as an extra ? Possible to cook in the awning as well of you have one ! All possibilities covered and there are some real good value camping saucepans suitable for induction hobs available :)

Google Remoska buy new from Lakeland. They also sell induction hobs but aren't the cheapest. Remoskas come in 2 sizes Standard and Grand . Standard are good for 2 people Grand is family size. Major advantage about Remoska is that it is low wattage the Standard is 470 watts the Grand I think 630 watts so both low power. They have simply on/off switch and cook at about 190degC.
Very popular with campers/caravan folks

Have a look at a Cobb Cooker, they are very versatile for grilling, one pot, and as an oven.
Remoskas are an electrical one pot cooker.

Highmiler.

When you find Remoska 'on line' from Lakeland (officialy sole distributers for UK) you will conclude that they are grossly 'over priced' for what they are ! BUT consider that they have a lifetime, no quibble guarantee from Lakeland, which I can testify is honoured ! so looks better value when considered :)

They are also available if you search on-line ,somewhat cheaper than Lakeland - you takes your choice. But whatever I think they are a great purchase for caravaning :)

We have a three burner hob with a split cover on our 2015 430. The left hand side flap of the split cover covers one burner and the right hand side flap of the split cover covers two burners. That's useful you may t.hink - I can lift the left hand side flap and use the single burner while leaving the other two burners covered and whatevet is on the flap unmoved. Sounded good to me when space is at a premium. Wrong - you have to lift the second flap to press the ignitor button to light the single burner. OK you can always use matches. May I ask why members buy and use external cookers when Eribas already have what appear to be adequate gas hobs. is it because electricity is a cheaper and more sustainable source of energy?

I never cook in the caravan unless I have to so have gas BBQ; gas hob and a halogen oven to cook, preferably, outside. Serious cooking is a very messy business! If you're going to boil something, then you're generating a load of steam. Frying, well, don't need to add anything... our van is 20 years old and you can see that no-one has ever really cooked in her.Bonus being that DH mans the BBQ so I don't have to do the cooking! LOL
