Recommend campsite convenient for Egham, Surrey anyone?

We had the good news this morning that our granddaughter got the A-level grades she needs to study Computer Science and will be going to the Royal Holloway, University of London next month. (We went for an open day in February and were amazed - it's like Hogwarts! See below)

As she will be starting her course while we are in France next month, we thought it would be a good idea to visit her on our way home from the Tunnel.

The question is, where to stay?

Can anyone recommend a decent site for a couple of nights convenient for Egham and the M3? We don't know the area so would welcome some local knowledge.

We are members of the Caravan Club but not C&CC.

That looks ideal, Kay. Thank you.

Next question, does anyone know if C&CC admit non-members to their sites?

Yes. You just pay a premium for the pitch over what a member pays.. At least, that was my experience at Sandringham.

First university for women, Queen Victoria was a patron, hence 'Royal' Holloway.

The architect based his design on the Château de Chambord.

It took our breath away when we first saw it. Amazing place.

If you click the link then go to facilities top one says members and non members welcome. Some sites are members only but not this one. Ian

We've used C&CC site at Chertsey on many occasions - always been good - (though once, since the 'Floods' there, it had seemed a bit 'tired',there has been a change of site 'managers recently and the maintainance etc seems to have improved !

Best to be aware it is on the flight path to Heathrow !!

There are good road and rail communications and a short train ride to Egam from Chertsey if you don't want to drive, station is walkable from the site if you're fit ! Good service on the line to central London too !

As far as I'm aware non members are welcome , but at a higher cost !

Hope this helps :)

We've not stayed there, but it's fairly near where we live and we've walked around it, looks nice. It's right on the river. Let us know when you're going and we'll keep a lookout for you!

The chapel interior gives an idea of the opulence of the place.

Thanks for your help, everyone.

Chertsey C&CC looks to be ideal for our purposes so long as I remember to take my earplugs.

Thanks, Taffy, but we don't feel human without our morning showers. That's why we only use sites with full facilities.
