We bought an old Eribacar a couple of months ago and so far we have taken it to Port William for a few days and York for the weekend, where it almost lost its roof on the A66 on the windiest day of the year. It needed a few things fixing, I say a few, won’t go into detail, but after having everything fixed and reupholstering we decided to go on a 800 mile road trip, all through the highlands ending up on Orkney. Now the roof is well and truly attached the Van performed beautifully driving through Loch Lomond stopped at Inveruglas then up to Loch Ness on the A82, did well to climb the B862 and B852 to Foyers. Onward to Inverness and the A9 to John O’Groats, where we met Tony an Eriba Puck owner who told us of this site. The views along the way were worth it and the sunsets at John O’Groats were spectacular. Nice little day trip to Orkney and the return Journey was just as special, the stops on the way taking in all Scotland has to offer made the whole experience in the Van a delight. The only hair raising part was the climb at Berriedale Brae as we had a Huge Wagon in front of us, taking some sheep on their holidays, that couldn’t climb and kept stopping in front of us which meant 1st and 2nd gear the whole way up, a couple of times we thought he was going to roll back down in to us. Once on the A9 to Inverness the old Van was able to do 70 overtaking, although hubby was pleased each time I dropped down to 60 - 65. To say we are enjoying the Van would be an understatement, it is nice and comfy with the new upholstery and the memory mattress topper and everything working well. Going off again tomorrow, don’t know where we will end up, but sure the van will do its best to take us and bring us back.

Hi and welcome to Eribafolk. Great looking van and a bit unusual being a Talbot. There are a few other Eribacar owners on the forum who, I daresay, will introduce themselves when they see your thread.

We would love to see a pic of your outfit in the Eribacar gallery when you have a chance.

So you've met young Tony then? What a lovely bloke. Did he tell you he's only just got back from the very north of Norway? He doesn't half get about.

I think he only goes home to collect his mail

Hold on. I recognise that Eribacar. This is it isn't it? Morning!

The previous owner was worried about the way the roof was fixed when he started a thread last June/July on the subject. Here it is:- Pop Up Roof Issue on My Bali

I think he was a genuine bloke who has owned the van for a couple of years. I'm surprised he sold it.

He didn't mention any issues with the roof, or any other issues with the Van, and the whole thing apart from the back section came loose, I've had it reattached with adhesive and bolted in place at each corner and in the middle, so hopefully it will never happen again. We managed to crawl home, much to the delight of the traffic behind us, with the roof held down with bungees.

Well you've got yourselves a really special Eriba and it sounds like you've fixed her up so be proud of her and enjoy your trips.

Thanks Randa,

I love it and its my first time owning a campervan. Spent loads already but need to get some welding done on the front slam panel, fix the holes where I think the awning used to be, paint the outside and apply the new decals, fix the shower room and maybe look at new seats as the old ones are a tad uncomfortable on long journeys, it should then be spot on, unless I find something else to do. Need to see how much more hubby will let me spend fixing it up. It deserves some TLC if its going to be used to its full potential.

Hi Guys, lovely meeting you both at John O Groats. Thanks again for pointing me in the direction of the Orkneys Trip. Great to be there on such a blue sky day. The boat trip back was a bit exciting.[lil

Love that Eribacar.

Tony
