Me, shopping? You have to be joking!

Noticed this evening that a prat at the end of our street has got lights all over his house already.

Mind you, he could be celebrating something more topical.

I bought a couple of Regatta jackets in a factory shop sale about a year ago, they are very good quality

I looked everywhere for something small enough ................. without success wish I had got a couple of cloth bits with the logo on to make something for them.

Remember those strange bits of paper called cheques? well thats how payment is made or by bank transfer ........ even more outdated than a cheque .............. I had to check my cheque book was still valid (changes to branch numbers and so on) (my building society having been taken over by another one since my last cheque) no paypal option available, but my old fashioned cheque worked with a receipt marked paid in with my goods, and a slip through the door from the courier saying goods left in greenhouse

Maybe so, but the almost universal adoption of BACS payments has made a massive difference to both me and Mrs P.

We're both self-employed and waiting for cheques to show up in the post and then having to wait another five days for them to clear was the most enormous pain in the fundament.

If a client says he'll do a BACS payment today, most of the time I've got the dosh in a few minutes.

Cheques?

Pah. Be glad to see the back of them.
