Had an email back from Hymer, they say that it can be upgraded to 850kg with no changes,( other than the plate!) they will send me a plate. The cost is €89, how I pay this I have no idea but I imagine they will invoice me and I can do a bank transfer.
Chris
Hi Chris, when you get the plate you will also get the bill, there is a phone number +497524 999 360 you can ring this and pay by credit card..

We have just arrived back from our Autumn /Winter trip to find the uprating plate waiting for me. Now its obviously a stick on label, but do I remove the old one or just stick this one over the top? and is the transparent one meant to be stuck over the top of that?

I removed the original. I cannot remember what I cleaned the area with when it was off.
You will have ONE attempt at fitting the new label and the protective film.
I used a strip of masking tape as a baseline to line the label up.
I never got all of the air bubbles out.
Best of luck - Colin

In addition to the obvious one of making sure that the location is scrupulously clean, try the following:
Mix two or three drops of washing up liquid with water in a clean Windolene-type spray bottle. Adding the washing up liquid breaks down the surface tension of the resultant solution and stops it beading up when it's sprayed on.
Give both the label's intended location and the back of the label itself a good wetting, and just touch the label to the panel. The water will allow you to move it around until you're happy that it's in the right place, and prevent the adhesive from grabbing. It's exactly the same principle as floating the roundels onto the wings of an Airfix Lancaster.
Holding the label in position, use an old credit card with a bit of soft cloth (felt is ideal, but a bit of old t shirt will work) over its leading edge as a squeegee and work the water (and any bubbles) out from under the label.
The bit of cloth is there to soak up the expelled water and prevent scratches. Once the water has gone, the adhesive will stick the label as intended.
If you aren't sure how wet to get everything, err on the wetter side rather than the drier. Wiping away a bit of extra water is much better than having a label grab immovably when it isn't straight.
If there are any bubbles (and there shouldn't be if your squeegeeing was done properly), you can get rid of them by making a small (like half a millimetre) nick in the label's surface adjacent to the bubble using a scalpel blade. A pin won't be sharp enough for this.
Once you've made the nick, work the air in the bubble out of the cut with your fingers and Robert's your mother's brother.

The method you describe was top of my list when I came to apply the sticker. What you have described is the method suggested by a sign writer friend who regularly applies lazer cut vinyl in his job. He advised I use the method you suggest until he saw the sticker. He changed his mind, why I do not know. He may have saw a problem with the adhesive, he may just have thought the sticker was so small and easy to fix I should just man up and stick the thing on the van.

And the next question is was the old plate easy to get off? is it a metal plate, or a sticker like the new one?. would I be better to clean the print off the old one
[ I have some stuff that will shift it ] and stick the new one on top or remove the original?

I have only just got round to sticking my new upgraded MTPLM plate on as my winter cover was still on until today.
It's easier to just stick the new one directly over the old one, firstly I cleaned the area with some white spirits and then I put a bit of general purpose glue like UHU on the back of the new plate and placed it directly over the old one. When it had stuck I placed the transparent sticky fixing plate directly over the MTPLM plate.
