Hi,

Went to tow home a friends acquisition yesterday, a 2003 Puck L225GT, which is in great fettle except for the "grey" fibreglass deck, the rear light surrounds and the mudguard wheel surrounds. They are all suffering from peeling and blistered lacquer.Has anybody sent these parts for respraying? What is the name of this grey colour?
Any help with this appreciated.

Thanks.

I had them done on ours, I took them off and took them to a local guy I know, cost £300 and they were done properly and low temp baked. Before you start if indeed you intend to? The rear light clusters are xxxxard to take off! Ok when you know most of the work has to be done inside the van to release the clamps. If I can help please comeback to me.

The front valance, side mudguards, number plate surround are easy peasy, you may also want to replace your chrome dome nuts I got mine from fleabay

Hi Agger,

So how do you release these clamps you mention?

Hiya, you need to get inside the van, remove the cushions etc, and you shoild see a metal u shaped bracket it'll be held in place by 2 nuts, undo these and the rest is easy.

I only mention it as it looks like it should be done from the outside. I also renewed the bulbs, and washed out the lenses. Just be careful as the lenses are polycarbonate (or mine were) and they can get fragile due to heat and the sun degredation.

Hope that helps, well worth doing

I'm away from home at the moment so can't check, but I think the colour is RAL 9007. I have a can of it, hardly used, left over when I sprayed the drawbar covers that I had to replace on my Troll when I purchased it. Depending on where you are, I may be able to help out. It would be a shame if your pal had to shell out on a can just to use a small amount as I did.. I'm Cambridge based...

RAL is a paint colour standard...

I think i may have the majority of a litre can left over. I sprayed the drawbar cover and front faring with what little I used..

Interesting, as long as they are all the same colour and therefore match the colour is a matter of choice, however ordinary car paint is intended for a metal surface and some research into painting fibreglass / plastic surfaces may be needed.

On the subject of 'grey bits'.....

Does anyone know where you can buy the grey plastic cupholes wth the caps on?
Around my mudguards most of the fixing screws have lost the plastic caps and are now looking worst for wear.

Hi Ian, just put in chrome screw caps on ebay and you get a plethora of them in different colours, it's where I got ours from
