I use one of these aluminium towers very safe and sturdy and light as a feather. Useful,for everything from cleaning eriba to getting your house gutters spick and span.

Sorry to hear of your little mishap. Hope you are feeling a lot better now. I'd stop the DIY mountaineering if I were you and get one of those substantial 4-part combo thingies that can be set up as either a platform, stepladder or even a fully extended ladder - I got one of these but then I am vertically challenged.
