Thule Awning Quick-Fit tent

Hi
Our Troll has a Thule Omnistore awning fitted. We wish to purchase an enclosure and have been looking at the quick-fit tent.
My question - are they as quick to fit as they say? 15 mins.

On our other caravan we had an air awning, which is what we were going to purchase - but as the Eriba that stole our hearts has this fitted, seems daft not to use it.

We're not sure the quick fit tent is low enough...
Does anyone know that the Kampa Air awning fit with an existing Thule Omnistor Awning?

We don't really want to remove the sun canopy, but need a 'sealed' room for our dogs to sleep in, they are used to being in an awning.

It's hard to know what to do when we haven't taken ownership if our caravan yet!
Thanks in advance

Hi Jan.
I've moved your second thread and added it here.

It's always difficult to comment on the Thule Omnistor until you can post a photo. When they are fitted to Eribas they are obviously fitted to the curved part of the fixed roof but it depends on how high up the curve they are placed. Too far down the curve and they will interfere with the vertical wall of a traditional awning which has a near vertical triangular wall above the awning rail. For the purpose of this discussion the Kampa Pop Air falls into that category.

See Martin Chezmart's photos here:- Kampa Pop Air

You will notice that the Kampa Pop Air has a near vertical wall above the Eriba awning rail.

However, if the Omnistor has been fitted high enough around the curve as in Dave Eribanaut's photo:-

then a standard type awning with a vertical wall WILL fit. Hope that makes sense.

The Kampa is designed to fit both lower and higher [post 2010] eriba awning rails, so you may be in look. What is the height of the bottom edge of your wind out?
I believe the Kampa may have a dual awning cord of both 4mm and 6mm. I think you need a 4mm to fit the bottom edge of your wind out.
I know for certain that the Camptech Motoair low does have a dual 4mm and 6mm awning cord and will cover with a variety of heights.
Below is the Camptech I sold at the end of last year.

Thank you - as we don't 'have' our caravan it's also difficult. The one pic I have the omnistor looks quite low 😳
We will have to wait I think - just eager to get all the equipment required for our first weekend away...already booked.

Hi - this looks good, which awning is this one again?
Our other option is a drive away designed for campervans!

I'm sure we will find something suitable 👍🏻

I think the awning you are showing Colin, isn't the Kampa Pop Air so therefore falls into the category of a drive away type awning that has a flexible link tunnel.

Didn't realise that the awning bead could slide into the bottom edge of the wind out however. Will this also work for a conventional awning I wonder or would the sides not be flexible enough to reach the side walls of the van?

Yes, it's as I expected. The cassette is standing out from the awning rail. Further exacerbated by the fact that you have a post 2010 van with a shallower roof curve.
The awning that Colin is showing or something similar, will certainly do the job.

The awning I have shown is the Camptech Motoair Low.
The wind out by Fiamma and Omni usually have an awning bead track in front edge, designed for either a sun-block panel to be used when the canopy is extended, or a drive away to be used when it is in the closed set-up.

Thank you (again) more to think about - if only we had the time to drive the 2hrs to have another proper look.
Only purchased it in Saturday, left it there for a service/valet - its when you have the rest of the weekend, planning, thinking, dreaming...that questions come.

Once we're sorted I will report back our awning purchase 😊

Hi Colin, why did you sell the Camptech Motoair? I was just looking at in the gallery and it looks quite good and well priced.

Julia,
I suppose it is what you are used to. I cannot really get on with an awning that requires so many tie down cords, Just a personal irrational dislike really.
Once you put that aside, along with a flappy tunnel and the ripstop nylon material that are signatures of this style of awning then it was fine.
It was lightweight, reasonably bright inside, had integral groundsheet [some sites might not like this] and fairly easy to put up.
I know of one fellow Triton owner who has used his in Spain over the winter for 6 and 12 weeks respectively. I believe he had come form a camper van background and has got on with the awning fine.
If I had to go this route I would look at the Quecha from Decathlon. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/air-seconds-...id_8358157.html

Thanks Colin, the flappy tunnel would be the thing that annoyed me I think. I like that it has the doors in the tunnel though. I'm used to the material, so that's not a problem. It looked like it would have got quite hot - or can you fully open the sides? Not sure about the Quencha and how it would attach.
I am not overly keep on air awnings but that's probably because we haven't used one before!.

If you click on EribaMotters link to the Quechua and scroll down to 'customers photos' someone has added a picture of one on an Erinba.
