I tried quite hard to find a price on their website and failed however a look at a review on ukcampsite suggests 29 pounds a night,

Enough to put most people off going there anyway......................

Islay, don't let one site stop you coming to the UK. Most aren't that bad although the Caravan Club can be quite anal. The Camping and Caravan Club sites don't tend to bother. The last two I have used said "morning or afternoon sun" and "tv reception or view".
Having said that I will be over the water as soon as I can as I love the "laissez faire" attitude and the cheap wine.

Piper's Height Campsite.

Not that I know Blackpool very well but I can't remember much high ground in and around the town. I therefore google mapped it and noticed it not far from the airport. Perhaps that why it's called Piper's Height?

Also only average reviews from UK Campsites.

This campsite about 20 minutes drive from Blackpool is nice. http://www.brylea.co.uk/ so go here where you'd be most welcome.

Well, feeling particularly mischievous today ........

Me too and after contacting them received this reply.

Our pitches are all designed for caravans and Motorhomes with doors on the near side this is to ensure the correct distance between the caravans. However, there are some continental units which are specifically built for the UK and are members of the NCC such as Adria. These are more than welcome.
Sorry if your unit doesn't comply.

Yes I was refused entry on Pipers Heights 2 days ago funny thing is we never had the van in tow we where on our way home having just been to our storage site to put the new awning in when we were refused the booking strangley it now says on there sights no european vans I booked this site for the illuminations last year but we couldn't make it due to illness im certain it didnt say it then. Well its one to avoid in the future and would be interested if list of none eriba compliant caravan parks exists. I personally think its taking Thus gard Brexit a bit far

It could be they gave a "traveller" or gypsy (which I doubt!) problem, I do know they have a migrant problem. Could this be the reason? Even so we should'nt all be tarred with the same brush

I have to admit that when we stopped over to see the illuminations on our way back from Scotland two years ago, we had a lovely time.

Admittedly it was only for one evening but a drive from the campsite to Lytham St Annes for a huge fish and chips in a bag, followed by a slow drive up the "Mile" and an even slower drive back, fulfilled a long time ambition.

What ever next.

If you have any imported fittings in your van not manufactured in UK, where do we stand. Has the world gone completely mad or what.

For us poor buggers dragged up in Manchester shortly after the war, this place was our Cote D'Azure. We also broke our teeth - quite literally - on Blackpool Rock with it's squiggly writing throughout it's length.

I emailed and asked them if they rejected European 'vans and they replied that their site had been designed like that, had a look at a photo of their site, you might as well be in a car park, no trees or hedges , all crammed in together!
What's the attraction/

Must admit we've done exactly the same. The first time in an Austin 7 in 1958, second and last time in 2008. And yes we enjoyed the lights but whether I'd like to holiday there is another question - perhaps the time lapse between visits gives a clue!

Our reason for choosing Blackpool was its close to Westby Hall where our Troll is stored it was just going to be a practice run to try out the new Kampa air awning so that we were up to speed with putting it up and down and storing it before we went further afield on our longer stays in April.
