How can I view my daughter's ski holiday photos. She's away with Carole and about 12 others at present and I am told I can view without being a member.

Your daughter can send you links to the photographs by email. OR
Anne says it's much easier to become a member and then ask your daughter to become 'your friend'.
You can always then close your account if you wish to.

You'll need some sort of "real" sounding name like Dezzy Hampshire...
Dezzy Hampshire?
A real sounding name?

Thanks - not.
I have been told it is possible to view without being a member and we don't want to be on it.
And Bryn, we can't view skiing pics over the phone

With considerable restrictions, yes. Why don't you click on the Eribafolk Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/groups/eriba/ and see for yourself how much of their wall you are able to view. If you are able to see a considerable amount it is as a result of the security settings used......see below.
As a subscriber to Facebook there are various security settings open to you. I won't bore you with them all but one particular setting is to do with who can view any posts that you make i.e. your friends, a group or public. As a rule, certain posts e.g. your home page with avitar and certain particulars such as date of birth have a setting of 'public' by default. The reason for this is self explanatory and covers eventualities such as a long lost friend/relative or workmate etc wanting to locate you. With other posts that the subscriber makes then the group, friends or anyone setting comes into being.
In short then, if you are not yourself a Facebook subscriber you are not able to establish a so-called friendship with your daughter and will only be able to see what Facebook have set as default security settings. You would, however, be able to see any pictures and other postings that your daughter places on her wall if she changes the security setting for these posts to 'public'. That of course is something that only she can decide.
By the way, when I refer to 'wall', this is the subscribers home page.
Edit: the attached picture should give you some idea of the settings that I am referring to. The options are available for each and every posting that the subscriber makes i.e. your daughter.
