To an Eriba from a Swift....

Storage question:
How do you store your plates? I had a plate rack before. My plates fit in the base of the overhead cupboard but at the moment, there is nothing to keep them in place.

...and any other storage ideas greatly welcomed. Love the amount of cupboards, it's now finding which one houses what!

We keep our plates and bowls in the wire basket under the sink. Generally, there's quite a lot of discussion about storage on here (check search engine) like this thread from last year :- Packing breakables in the caravan

Thank you - alas the previous owners fitted a combi-microwave under the sink...so room below that for pots n pans only.
I shall have a look at your link. We are also going to the NEC show next weekend so further ideas will be had.

We also changed from an Autotrail to an Eriba Triton, great fun getting used to it, still it leaves us with the car at the end of the journey. Also nothing can beat the pleasure and experience of chatting and exchange of ideas with the other patrons of the Eribafolk forum who give you endless amounts of their own advice and experiences.

When traveling we keep the plates in a storage container under the back seat, we use luminite tableware and we put rubber anti slip rubber between the plates. When pitched up it goes in the locker above the stove..

I travel with the crockery in a plastic storage box in the front cupboard, also use lightweight crockery (Corelle). Once on site it sits on the large front windowsill
in the 420 along with kettle, cafetiere, teapot, wine glasses etc.

We also use the basket so that doesn't help you one bt. I imagine that if you put that rubbery non-slip stuff between the plates in the overhead cupboard, they won't move.

We use all lightweight crockery etc. Plates stacked with non-slip mats between them in the top shelf above the sink along with cups and glass wear stuffed with bubble wrap. Heavy stuff - pans and toaster etc - are stowed below the sink.
Tiny cupboard above one of the front seats is filled with First Aid related stuff, medication and ointments for nasties etc. Two front cupboards are used for games, torches, films and a million other small things. Shoes and walking boots etc go under the two front seats which we deliberately leave half empty to allow for items that we might purchase whilst on tour. Clothing obviously goes either in the wardrobe and/or in the rearmost cupboards. Most other things either go in the bathroom or under the rear bed.

My solution (at the moment) is j-clothes. Glasses in individual fabric boxes (Ikea). We also have Corelle crockery.
Been busy putting bits in cupboards and putting the personal touches around. Throws on seats - dogs invited in for a sniff around.

Think we're ready now for our first venture away - need to buy an awning, but hopefully next weekend at the show we'll see something suitable.

Thanks for your suggestions though - will see how we get on!

Corelle sits on shelf , wine glasses sit in cut down pringle tubes (other snacks are available) with mugs in locker - no breakages yet and we're into our eleventh season, remoska in its custom made padded fabric bag is slung in an underbed locker together with load of other stuff that I can fling on top of it, nesting saucepans in holllow at the back of the wardrobe together with the toaster, other than that I've no set packing plan it depends on the season, length of trip and whether were off gridding at an event or sophisticated site camping.

Another vote for Corelle.

We've given up on melamine as it scratches so easily and is not microwaveable.
