Cover off today and all well, clean, dry, roof up, no mould, power on, gas on, but the fridge will need the usual coaxing to light.
Too windy today to try and fold the cover and bag it into the garage loft
Service at AL next Tuesday, bit of a bugger, but they were booked out the week we're down on the spring meet, wonder why, so SatNav set 'cos we haven't been to their new place.

I rang a local engineer last week to try to arrange a chassis service before our spring getaway and was told that he's booked solid until mid-May.
The solution? We've booked in for three nights at C&MC Wirral Country Park after Easter and superstar engineer and all round good chap John England is going to do a full service for us while we are up there.
It's an area we've never visited before and we are hoping to fit in a day trip to Chester which we understand to be well worth a visit. It will also be great finally to meet John and say a personal thank you for all the advice and technical know-how he has so generously provided to me and others on this forum over the years.
I think Pete makes an interesting point regarding the need (or not) for annual services when typical caravan mileages are so low. Fair enough if you have to have a service by an approved Hymer dealer to maintain warranty cover but surely a bit over the top for normal usage?

Totally agree with your service regime comments. A full yearly service is over the top. I have only signed into a five year contract because I have bought a new van. I will then revert to my old ways.
This entailed adjusting or fixing anything immediately as it happened and then an over winter crawl underneath checking and cleaning down as needed greasing corner steadies, handbrake mechanism and linkage under van, grease points on drawbar etc. Popping the bungs on back of brake drums allows you to see brake shoe wear. A visual check of window seals, trim, mastic areas etc and that was about it.
I must add though that my vans have always been garaged when not in use and therefore saved from the elements.

We went up last year after reading about your BIP modifications and got John to sort out our electrics. He proved to be a very competent engineer and a lovely fellow to boot . The Wirral c/site was very friendly and there are some very nice walks in the vicinity. I would have no cause to regret going back for further services even though it is a long way from the Isle-of- Wight.
The only way to have a friend, Is to be one
I skipped my service this year as the van only did 700 miles last year, I usually get my service done at the end of the season as the engineers are less busy than in spring.

We too - usually October as that's the anniversary of our purchase. It's going in to have a mover fitted in a couple of weeks and to have a few bits and pieces done under warranty and that'll be it until October again. Anticipate doing approx 3000km max this year so agree that for younger age vans an annual service is probably unnecessary but to maintain warranty there really is little choice.
I decided to call AL yesterday, just to advise our arrival time about 9am this morning.
I used the EOC newsletter which was handy and showed contact details. Eric has made a mistake - the numbers for AL departments are the wrong way round, but I got through to find my own more important and relevant mistake. Our Puck L is not booked for service till tomorrow - Wednesday!. Luckily we are free.
Daft old git I hear you say and agree.

Service completed while we visited an old camping haunt at Warehem. Walked the river path to the camp site and they've just placed all the seasonal caravans out and open for business this weekend. Sad to hear Nigel died in February, the farmer who owned everything there. Can remember asking how much to camp for a couple of weeks Nigel when we had Snowdon Towers a big frame tent and he'd answer just slip me a fiver.
Strolled the town had lunch on the quay.
Two new tyres on the Eriba, plus service, a bit of an ouch but they were new tyres when we bought it there in 2010, so they've seen some mileage. and apparently out of date.
Looking forward to the Spring Meet. The AL place is smart and they're geared up for the EribaFolk onslaught next week, which we arenot booked on to, we've had our visit today. Long way from their old place.

They called me and said they were needed while at lunch and could do it if I gave go ahead, they did.
Did AL change the tyres themselves or did they run the wheels to the place round the corner?
We need pneus, not anecdotes
