Awning confusion - no surprise there then

Hi everyone. Has anybody heard of an awning manufacturer named 'Columbus'. We got an awning with our 92 Pan Familia made by this company and can find no info regarding instructions for putting the thing up. Other things on the label are - FW Krause and Tencate. 'Tencate' I think is the material technology. Beginning to think the poles supplied with it are for something different also..

Thanks.

Best advice I can offer is try to put just the poles up first its easier to try to figure out how they go without the cloth part getting in the way. Then if you figure it out mark the poles before you take them apart again.

Good luck with it I remember having to do that with a 1989 puck (single handed)

Zitat
'Tencate' I think is the material

That is correct

Hi Hob and Zitat.
Already tried a dry run or two minus the cloth. No luck as yet with configuration!

How about forgetting the poles for a moment and laying out the fabric.

Look for the sewn in awning bead. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Blue-Diamond-Aw...e/dp/B004V8VRR2

This obviously slides into and connects to the Eriba.

The overall shape should then become apparent. If it has a zip out front section and two side sections then for the dry run take them away (however, leave them in when erecting the awning once you know how it goes).

If it is a standard "classic" shape then there should be 3qty multi-connection points. Does your van have three fixing points in the awning rail something like this:- https://www.caravancanopyshop.co.uk/prod...g-rail-brackets

If so then it's probable that two on the eaves poles will have a hooked end and there will also be a short pole for the centre.

That's enough to be going on with.

Good luck

Randa

Pole bottoms that go to ground will have a spike or plastic plug on the bottom.

If we can all make sense of the first bit then we can probably talk you through it.

Let us know how you get on.

By right clicking near the right hand top of the opened page, you can translate into English.

As the first reply states, most "classic" shape awnings are very similar to build.

Would appreciate it if anyone could tell novices like us what the foot long L shaped part of the awning pole is for?? See pics. We are not sure if it is a mid section front support, or if it is supporting something mid section to the back towards the caravan awning rail? Any help would be fantastic right now!!

Don't know anything about the "Columbus" awning Colin but the L shaped 12" long piece looks like it should fit vertically between the awning rail at its centre point, and the apex of the awning. The flattened end should fit into one of these Bit and pieces screwed into the awning rail.

Hi Randa.

We have posted the erected awning in the picture gallery under 'F W Krause' . Rough weather that week so pinned down everywhere! ....When we get a chance, we would like to draw up a diagram/picture guide to setting up this type of arrangement.

Many thanks for your help :)
