New eriba & new movers

Well our new 2017 eriba Triton 420 arrived a week ago, and I must say we love it, Automotive Leisure have been extremely helpful, we have however been a little worried about our new Reich automatic easydriver movers fitted by AL, they have been fitted upside down with the movers below the bar instead of above the bar, we were worried about them being bumped on rough roads etc... AL said that the fitting of the movers this way is acceptable but that Reich were happy to talk about it with us should we need more assurance, I contacted Reich and they were very helpful he asked what the road clearance was from the movers I told him 17.5cm he wrote back with the following email which has reassured us. Both AL and Reich have been extremely helpful and we can't thank them enough.

Email from Reich:

Hi Paul

Your ground clearance is very good. We ask for a min of at least 12cm.

Our mover can be fitted upside down without any problems. In fact the mover you have was designed to be fitted upside down on the BPW chassis.

Regards
Dave Warner

Paul, there's absolutely no reason to mount these movers upside-down.

I fitted an Easydrive Basic 1.8 to a 2001 Troll 530 today, and although I don't know if the floor height of yours is the same as an older Troll, the mover went on the right way up with the correct mounting brackets and the centre of the rollers aligns slightly higher than wheel centres

Are you able to take and post a picture of the mounting brackets?

Cheers

Hi yeah, I think the brackets were not the right ones but Reich assure me this is an acceptable method of fitting them, I guess only time will tell, they work great and clearance seems good.

Thanks, Paul. I'll compare my brackets in the morning - according to the forecast it should be a bit lighter by then.

Sorry to be a pain, but would you mind measuring the height of your bracket plates, and the ground to floor distance please?

Ta muchly

Very nice Paul although to be honest it's the first one that I've seen mounted upside down. It would seem that this has reduced the ground clearance because as you can see by a look in the gallery ours is 19cm and whilst it is fitted to a Troll I believe the floor height is the same as the Triton.

Just out of interest I put a search into google for Reich easy drive motor movers and looked under images and about half way down the page found this:

Hopefully my reply didn't come across as though I was doubting the validity of what you were saying, Paul, because obviously if Reich state that the manner in which your mower has been installed is AOK then obviously it must be so. I was simply saying that I had never seen the Reich movers mounted with the bar on top prior to seeing your picture with my view obviously being influenced by the fact that there is no mention of this in their fitting instructions or indeed the FAQ's although behind or in front of the wheel is.

No offence taken, that's what this site is all about for us to show our rigs and discus them and it's great to have the feed back, we too where concerned about the way they were fitted but as you say Reich say this is acceptable? He says the ground clearance is very good 17.5cm. I did look on some other sites on motor mover clearance and some have movers just 4 inches and 51/2 inches clearance that would concern me. Automotive Leisure basicly say that if Reich say they are ok fitted that way then that's it. So we will run with it for now but keep an eye on things, but for now they seem to do the job. Can't wait to get away for our first trip.👍

Enjoy the first outing. One tip - if your are touring France or intend to do so at some time in the future, be very careful with their Sleeping Policemen as some of them can be absolutely brutal where even walking over them causes a feeling of being out of breath due to the height LOL.

This is what can happen if the mover is mounted too low. (Seen on an Airstream that had mounted a kerb while maneuvering in a French town)

Excellent. Imperial, metric and a photograph in case nobody believed you

You've also got a pretty serious cobweb issue going on there, Mr Cauldron. Not good at all.

Maneuvering? How's that word go again?

Do you mean manoeuvring?

Well it is an American caravan.

I think the tame spider is searching for the fridge gas jet. It's just a matter of time before he finds it.
