Amazon Firestick and its use in France

I am good with bits of wood and sometimes metal, but not the techie stuff. I don't use a mobile phone, don't have sky or any tv contract.
I use a small multimo satelite dish to watch tv when the weather is lousy and have found this fine in France down to the Loire. This September we will probably be near/on the south coast and a bit of tv may be nice. A 1.5m diameter dish is not what I want to carry though.
Amazon Firestick with Kodi and then relevant apps [I am told] seems to meet my viewing needs, but in France will not work because it recognises the ip address of the campsite you are using is not UK.
I am lead to believe an idiots way around this problem exists, so can any idiot out there who would like to help a fellow idiot please make themself known.
I know this is also dependent upon how good site wi-fi is, but I have been told out of season your chance of this improves as less people are drawing on the service provided.
Thanks - Colin

Hi Colin,
What you need is a Proxy Server, this is a service you subscribe to that you connect to the internet via, thus "fooling" Amazon, BBC etc into thinking you are in the UK as the proxy server will have a UK IP address and thus allow you to access their media.
If you google Proxy Server you will get an idea of what they do and the monthly costs.

Kodi is not straight forward for the uninitiated, I speak from experience.
As you sound as if you only want the free to air channels, have a look at filmon, it works for me in Italy. Alternatively, with Chris's Proxy Server, you can access iPlayer, ITV, C4 & 5 directly.

How I watch TV in France with my tablet :
I get the BBC iplayer. Download a VPN called Tunnelbear. It costs me 1E97 per month and the bbc think I'm in England. I have no quarms about this. If I could pay for a BBC app, then I would but they don't provide the service. On the laptop, I use Hola which is free. You don't need anything else; I don't know what a Kodi is. With that, I get the BBC and the ITV. If you need a hand, just yelp.
Also, you can download with the BBCiplayer to watch when you don't have a good wifi connection. Also, Netflix is a boon in the caravan - again, you can download to watch. Often on French campsites, the wifi is very weak and if you want a permanent connection, you'll need to have a pitch VERY close to the wifi zone. Not always desirable.

Blimey - do you sit in the awning watching television all day. I thought holidays were intended for getting away from the usual day-do-day things in life.

I don't bother with carrying a TV at all, everything is via the laptop. A lot of the television services such as BBC I player, Amazon Prime, etc are restricted by your location. Quite right as stated to get arounf the problem you need a vpn/proxy server to fool the systems to belive that you are in the UK. If you use Chrome or Firefox as your browser, have a look at ChillGlobal.
It can be installed as a plugin to your bowser and then you have complete control when you want to use it and pay for it. Each month you will get 20 free hours and then you can buy access by the month.
