PUCK L 230 Max permitted laden mass

I wonder if any one can help me with this? The Puck L's were manufactured with two MPIM's - 790kg and 850kg. Apparently those rated 850 have more substantial axels to take the extra weight. I have been told (but have absolutely no idea whether it is true or not) that some Puck L's show on their identification plates that they have an MPIM of 790 when in fact they are fitted with the uprated axel (something to do with production lines and a dearth of the lower rated axels so the uprated axels were fitted but no one bothered to change the details on the ID plates). So, if I crawl underneath my Puck L what do I look for that can identify which type of axel I have? Thanks in anticipation, Tony

Hi Tony

Yes, there will be an Al-Ko identification plate riveted to the axle.

Various numbers are stamped on the plate (to prevent fading), showing part number, production and batch number, and of course the all important weight rating.

Have a look at the PDF document here to see various styles of ident plates.

Thanks John. The axel on my Puck is BWB but I guess like Al-Ko they to will have a plate or number stamped on the axel so I will look for that. Again, thank you.

So, I have finally had a reason to get under our Puck L (to replace the Mud Flaps - lost one on our way home last week) and found the lable with the axel weight. I'm pleased to report that it is given as 850kg even though the vin plate gives the MPLM rating as 790kg. Presumably however I would need to get a new vin plate with the correct axel rating before we can legally load the caravan accordingly? If so how do I achieve this? any ideas?

Tony

Enquires to here, Kundendienst@hymer.com They will tell you if it is possible. They will want the vin No and the axle No [by email] and will let you know within a few days if it is possible, if it is they send a new stick on plate and a bill for €89 [last year] there is a thread all about here.
