Advice please. We're looking into buying an Eriba

Hi
My family and I are looking into buying a second hand Eriba when the right one comes our way. Looking at the models available, it looks like the Troll or Triton would be our best bet for a family of 3??? However, I'm 6'2" and I was wondering if the pop top and bed would be high/long enough??? Ideally we'd like to try if anyone knows where this is possible in the Staffordshire area??
Thank you

Glad to hear you're looking at Eriba I'm sure you'll get a lot of opinions and useful information here.
I'd suggest you take a look at the floor plans on the Automotive Leisure site as they will give you some useful insight into the various models and layouts. Look at both new and used as models have not changed hugely over the last few years.
Major decision is bathroom or no bathroom as that radically affects the amount of space you get to live in and how it is laid out.
The Eriba is 2m wide. If you use the beds in transverse layout you may get fractionally more bed length than longitudinal. I am just under 6' and we have the beds longitude with a small gap down the middle. Feet do hit against the wardrobe in our Triton 410 - but I'm a back sleeper. J is a side sleeper and she has no problem.
The pop-top is more than enough when up - you learn where to duck in the other areas - and go out backwards too! It's also one of the reasons why many Eriba owners spend a lot of time looking for the right awning as it does provide a whole lot of extra living space.
The front bed is perfectly adequate - its the same length as the van width - but uses a number of cushions so it can benefit form some kind of topper or overlay.

If I were you I'd invest the time in a trip to Automotive Leisure in Poole. It'll take you three or four hours to get there, but there is nowhere else in the country with as big a range of Eribas to have a poke around in. There really is no better way to see what suits you best.
If you're going to invest a sizeable wedge in one of these vans - and you are, unless you're after a really old one that needs a lot of work - then one day and the fuel to Poole and back will be money well spent. You're likely to be travelling further than that once you've got one, after all.
You don't have to buy it from them, of course; once you've decided which model you're after, put a wanted advert on here. You might just get lucky

This site shows all the major floor plans of the last few years, some of the weight have changed and do depend on whether it was originally bought in Britain or sources abroad, hope this helps.

We have a Triton 430, 20 years old, in great condition. We have the bathroom, can sleep 3, if using both beds, then I'd say an awning is essential. We are on our own and don't need one, there being 2 tables. If the bed's made, we've still got somewhere to sit and eat. I wouldn't want to be without the loo and wash basin for the night "needs"! Others don't mind using other options.

I can explain our case.
We are a family of three, too.
Currently we have a Troll 530GT bought brand new on 2004 when our son was two years old. All these years we have enjoyed very much our caravan and certainly we could continue to enjoy it for many more years.
Some months ago we decided change our mind and we have ordered a new Triton 418 that we expect to arrive on december this year.
The decision to change has been based on our experience of thirteen years with our Troll. It is now when we know what we really need and what for us it is not.
As rambling robin pointed above, for us the toilet is not necessary. We are always in campings where there already exists that service for which we also pay.In addition you must realize that the maintenance and cleaning of the toilet always demands to keep it up to date to avoid any bad smell. Chemicals are not cheap either.
The front bed of the 418 is much larger than in the troll so our son will be more comfortable and can even become a double bed.
In addition, with the new caravan made to measure we can incorporate accessories that we consider important as ultraheat heating, rear fixed bed, hot water therm, rear exterior door, mosquito net, extra plugs, etc. In short, things that experience has shown us that we will be useful.
Our advice, if you can be useful, is that you keep in mind that the wardrobe of the models triton 418 and troll 530 is the largest available in the entire touring range.
